We’re joined in our wedding vendor spotlight by Debbie Kearney from Alluring Wedding Décor. Based in Co. Kilkenny Debbie offers memorable décor packages at affordable prices nationwide. We caught up with Debbie, who tells us how her love for weddings blossomed when she was planning her own wedding.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I’m a very happy wife and mum who fell in love with all things wedding when I married my prince charming three years ago. Since then I have worked in the wedding accessories industry and the wedding décor industry.

What inspires you?

People, everyone sees the world so differently and it is always great to get a new take on things.

What is the best part about being a wedding décor specialist?

Without a doubt the fact that I am contributing to somebody’s dream day and helping to give it the wow factor. I don’t just show up on the day to decorate your ceremony venue. I get involved with my brides to find out exactly how they want their ceremony to look. It is the first time your guests will see you, not to mention the first time you will see your groom that day so creating the perfect ambience is essential.

What’s your favourite memory from your job?

Hearing the wonderful comments from the guests as they enter the venue and of course from the happy couple afterwards.

What’s the day of a wedding like for you?

On a wedding day it starts very early and with a good breakfast! I like to be at my venue hours before the ceremony is due to commencing so I can set up and avoid any unexpected occurrences. It finishes very late as I don’t take anything away until long after the last guest has left just in case!

What made you want to work in the wedding industry?

I felt very much fulfilled planning my own wedding and realised I had a flair for it. I just couldn’t give it up after my own big day.

Have you seen many changes since you started your business?

Yes, the biggest one being budget. Now it is all about getting the most out of your money and rightly so. A candlelight ceremony is a very budget friendly way to make a big impact with your ceremony décor.

What is the best piece of advice you would give to couples planning their wedding?

Sneak away for 30 mins on your own, dance, laugh, and soak it all in. It will be over far too quickly but the memories really do last a lifetime.
