I was recovering from major surgery and was sick of being stuck in the house. He helped me into the car saying he was 'taking me for a drive for some fresh air'. He drove out to Bray seafront and the sun was beginning to set so the view was gorgeous. Next thing I saw was a big ferris wheel and he brought me over and got the guy working on the ride to help me into the carraige. When it stopped at the top he whsipered will you marry me in my ear! Such a special moment and I soon forgot about any pain I was in! Then I didnt mind being stuck at home cuz I had a wedding to plan lol!

Loving all of ye'r stories

Here is mine
We had been 2gether almost 5 years and had built our own house which at the time we wer in 2 and a half years.
Myself and h2b wer over at my parents house one sat evening for dinner 12-12-09 2 be percise and after one to many glasses of wine we settled in front of the t.v to watch x-factor. We were chatting away during d ads, he said to me shur we'll bring d dogs to the woods after dinner tomorrow. N i said yea "mam do u wanna cum 4 a walk in d woods tomorrow wen u finish wrk?" ( she was finished at 2.30) H2b says" ah no shur it'll be getting dark by the time she's changed and up there" so any way this went on 4 a while me gettin madder by d min (coz my mam loves out doorys stuff) next thing who comes on x-factoer only Michael Buble !!!! I turns o h2b and says ahhhhhh hailey buble...............so much better then hailey xxxxxxx!! N everyone starts laughin. So he finally says come on we'll hit the road i've 2 feed the dogs and cats yet, n me happy out in my parents house was like ah no i'll stay ere i dnt wanta go home!!! So mam n my nanny wer like hailey poor h2b go home wid d poor man n dnt be delayin him!! So off i went wid my tail between my legs
We were driving along n i tink we wer talking about weather r not my bro/or friends wud get engaged at xmas. So in home we went still chatting n i started to rinse some dishes dat wer left in d sink i turned rnd n he still had he's coat on, so i was like y r u wearin ur coat n he says im cold so i said rite shur im nearly fin here n den we'll head to bed, i turned rnd again n he had a ring box open wid a white gold ring inside wid a row of diamonds, n he jus says Ah Hailey will u marry me.(he didnt get down on one knee which i slag him bou, but the poor guy was shaking so much he cudnt I was so shocked i had absolutely no idea as we had never really talked about gettin engaged ) Shur i took off laughin n kept sayin r u serious? So i tried on the ring n he said dnt worry its not the real ting i want u 2 pick ur own. N we hugged n kissed n i said of course i'll marry u!!
Turns out he had been planning to propose at the woods with the dogs running around.............but i decided to invite my mam along!!!( I had a dream a good few months back where one of my dogs had been swimming in a lake and she swam over to me opened her mouth and a ring fell out!! N H2b got down on my knee! I told him bou the dream d nxt day n he must av remembered!!
So the next day was sunday so off went to the nearest town to pick out a ring n all d shops were closed!! We then went to the shoppin center and the jewellers der was open. I tried on bou 8 rings n kept going back 2 the 1st one!! So we bought it n went bk 2 my parents hse to tell em. Loads of more tears n hugs der!! N now we only av 9 and a half months to go

Ah, there are some really lovely stories there! Here's mine anyway...

We had been talking about getting married at some stgae for a while, but as h2b had lost his job, was worried about not being able to afford a decent ring, but said hopefully by summer 2011 we could get engaged (this was around summer 2010). Anyway, that was ok, so in the meantime i had had a look at rings etc just window shopping and had decided i'd like something a bit different from the usual diamond ones.
So then in November of 2010 we went out christmas shopping and went in a jewellers to have a look at jewellery for his mother for christmas. While there he said "sure show me the sort of rings you were talking about", so we went to have a look and i saw one that was exactly what i wanted. So he then said to try it on, to see what it looked like, so i did. By pure luck it fitted perfectly, which the jeweller said was very unusual as it's rare someone picks a ring "off the shelf" that happens to fit perfectly. So h2b then said "i think it's a sign, i think we should get it!" So we did! I was in shock for the rest of the day, but good shock!
We then decided not to announce it until Christmas Eve, and h2b would keep the ring til then. Unfortunately, the snow of last christmas then arrived, and as we weren't living together at that time, and h2b lived quite a bit out in the country where the roads were quite bad with the snow, it looked like the engagement proper would have to be postponed as it would be dangerous to travel. I was so upset. However, thankfully by Christmas Eve, it was a lovely cold, sunny day and the snow had cleared enough to drive, so Christmas Eve we drove to the beach and went for a walk. there was no one else there cos of the snow, so when we got to a certain point on the beach that we would be able to remember, h2b got down on one knee, and proposed with the ring. It was absolutely lovely, and the snow and the fact it was deserted made it all the nicer!

Congrats on all the stories!

Mine was a whirlwind of events really. We were living in London and looking to move back home when h2b got a job he had wanted back in dublin, we were delighted but had to pack up our lives in london in 3 weeks! So we handed in notice to our jobs and landlord and had the craziest couple of weeks ever changing address, cancelling bills, boxing our things and getting work sorted. We were due to come come for a hol mid April anyway for a friends wedding and a citybreak in Barcelona.
But instead of flying in for my friends wedding, we were getting the ferry with a carload of stuff!
Friends wedding went great and the next morning we had to drive to kerry first thing for a funeral unfortunately, so we had about 4 hours sleep all that week- crazy stuff. We had planned a few days in Dingle (we both love it) so we were going to dingle from Mon-wed and then Barcelona Wed-Sunday. I was really looking forward to just relaxing!
We checked into hotel on the Monday and it was sunny so we went for a spin back west towards Dunquin and we stopped at my favourite beach out there- which we often do.
So as we were walking along beach, h2b just slapped me on the back (which he doesnt remember) and dropped to one knee and proposed with a white gold Claddagh ring. I'm from Galway so he wanted to bring that into proposal. I cried and was SHAKING like a leaf. We knew we'd get married but i didnt think he was ready to propose. We had been to 20 weddings in 18 months and all the questions about used to drive him nuts. He would never look in jewellers windows with me either, he'd run away if i stopped and looked in!!

Then we went back to hotel and he had champagne all organised and tells me that we weren't going to Barcelona, we were going to New York to go ring shopping! He had booked loads of ring appts, booked an AMAZING hotel and 3 michelin starred restaurants. He totally blew me away.

I didnt guess at all, looking back his behaviour in the car was totally normal and although he was nervous he didnt show it. We booked our wedding in Dingle too, it'll always have happy memories and the New York trip was a great success. I got a ring that I still cannot stop looking at and I wear the Claddagh ring on my other ring finger and it means just as much

My Fiancé brought me to the states and wouldn't let me pay my fare or for accommodation. He had been doing well the past year and I just thought he was being generous or I'd get him back somehow. We always pay our share...lol. Anyway while in New York we had a busy day exploring and stayed out all day and went to a show on broadway. Afterwards, I was so exhausted I asked will we go to the top of the rock now or tomorrow? He said whatever I want. So I thought it would look great at night and I'll only ever be here once so why not? We got to the first viewing area and were blown away.. My fiancé wouldn't even look out now that I look back I realise he was watching me. We got inside and I thought the top level was closed because of a queue for the lift down. I was like sure you wouldn't look anyway so let's go I'm tired and I bet it will look the same anyway AND the queue is here probably because they are closing..it was 11.30pm. Next thing we saw a few lads head up to the next level so we followed. Yet again he stood a few paces back and I had to pull him over to me to show him what I could see. He asked did I want to sit down on the bench. We sat down and he said I've to ask you something. I told him to p!ss off. He is such a joker and I thought he'd ask for the time or something similar. He started to tell me how much he loved me...to which I replied what the hell are you doing? Then he got down on one knee and asked would I marry him. I just stared at I'm with my mouth wide open... Then slipped the ring on and said yes. I'm still in shock but am so happy. He picked a beautiful ring and the surprise of it all is something I will never forget. It sounds like something from a comedy and I wouldnt want it any other way
