Hello there.
how did you guys propose and did she know?

since h2b isnt on this i'll ans for him. we were toghether for 7 yrs and he said and we had talked bout it before and on day he said come on and lets look at rings, 1st shop i found the ring but he said that we still should look around that we could always come back - but once i make up my mind i dont change it - h2b knew this so the next day he went and got the ring(without me knowing) and when i came home from work one day he had everywhere lit with candles and was waiting for me down on one knee - so after bout 10 mins of crying i said yes!

i new it was coming but didnt expect it so soon.

we've been together 10 years, and had talked about it in the past - but then we decided to go for it. We chose the ring together, then the day we went to pick it up he took me to the bridge in St Stephen's Green and went down on one knee. His daughter and her boyfriend were with us, and he'd sent her off to buy some champagne, so after I'd said yes (and got a round of applause from the other people on the bridge at the time!) we all sat on the grass in the sunshine and drank it! Perfect.

As H2B doesn't speak english I'm answering for him
He's Italian and we have a long-distance relationship, which is not easy, but we make it work! He started making jokes about getting married, I suppose to test the water. I had kind of guessed that it was coming, but he got there a few months before I expected it (I thought he would do it during the summer on the beach where we used to go when we were first dating). In the end he came over for Valentines Day. He had planned to ask me at dinner, down on his knee in front of everyone (we were going to go to one of the Italian places in town, he told me afterwards this was so he could speak to the waiter/owner and arrange champagne etc), but in the end he couldn't wait!! I collected him from the airport and I'd say he was no more than 2 hours in the country, the kettle wasn't even boiled!! He literally dumped his bag in the bedroom, walked into the sittingroom, looked at me and said 'I can't wait', before going back into the bedroom and returning with a little box....
I can't really remember the speach, he said something about not having prepared a speach, not being typically romantic, but when two people love each other... he kept stopping and starting, it was very sweet.... I just kept looking at the box he had put in my hand, and at the ring.... poor guy it took me ages to answer him!!!! I smiled so much my cheeks hurt that night!!!!!
And he was wrong about one thing, it was actually the most romantic proposal I could ever have imagined: simple and genuine!!!
So what was meant to be a Valentines proposal ended up being a Fri 13th proposal, unlucky for some, but not for me!!!!

Christmas day of this year 2010, we were over in his parents house with the 4 kids (3 of them from a different marraige) and were opening presents, he gave me mine and i was delighted as i taught it was the shoes i had pointed out to him 3days previously - anyway i opened it and in it was a smaller box - wrapped up and in that was a smaller box wrapped up - i still didnt cop on - so he said here read your card - so i did and it just said love you always and i hope you get everything you every dreamed of, so he was looking at me and said well.... and i said well what .. he said did ya turn over so i turned over the card and it said WIll you marry me? He is a bit of a messer so i didnt take it serious and just laughed and kept on opening the box,at that point all his family had realised what was going on, and had gathered around me. I unwrapped the last box and there was the ring, he took it off me and got down on 1 knee onfront of all his family my kids (10ys,6yrs and 3ys) said please mammy say yes!!! so i did - Im the happiest woman alive !!!!

we went away to wexford for a weekend break and we noticed a bridal shop in the town, h2be said 'come on in for the laugh' so i was a bit unsure but went ahead with it, then he persuaded me to try on a dress i was mortified and he had the assistant getting tiaras for me try on too, all the time he was recording me on his iphone the git!!!, anyways cut a long story short he proposed to me outside the shop, i told him i would give him an answer by the end of the weekend..lol.(knowing i would say yes ), we went for dinner with mam that evening and he showed her the pics of me in the wedding dress and told her he wanted to marry me, naturally mam got all excited and wanted me to give him my answer but i left him waiting , the next day i said yes to him and then we went ring hunting and spread the word around, everyone was delighted for us, hes a wonderful man , i never thought i would meet my soulmate after spending yrs on my own just me and my 3 kids but good things happen to those who get out there and do something with their life, its then when things started to happen for me!!!

We were together just over 3 years and we had talked about it but never really seriously. Just knew it's something we would do one day. We were out one night with family and he spoke to my dad about it, asked him would he mind and all that! So it was ages after that then we were laying in bed one morning just messing. We were talking about one night I was out with his sister in law and we'd both been drinking and I said jokingly "sure that boy will never marry me!" and she told him about it thinking I was serious. So we were laughing about that and he turned to me and said "Toot will you marry me", I started laughing said "course i will" rolling my eyes and he goes "no actually im serious". I couldnt answer him for ages I was so shocked! We had a holiday planned and he was going to do it then but decided the timing was just right!

We got engaged on Christmas day 2010 after 5 yrs together. The h2b dragged me out for a walk after dinner in the freezing cold and took me to the place we had our first date - little picnic area (when we were close to the location I kinda guessed something might be going on as he was acting a bit weird). So we got to the picnic area and he sat me down on a bench and just dropped to one knee in the snow.
He popped a little box out of his pocket and asked me to marry him there and then. When he opened the box inside was a haribo jelly ring. He said he wanted me to choose the ring but he didn't want to ask me without having something to give me so after i composed myself and said YES, he promised to take me shopping so 2 days later we went ring shopping and now I just can't stop looking at my sparkly ring

ah such lovely stories!!! very very cute!! love the haribo idea!!! Keith picked out mine, and to be honest i wouldnt change it for the world. i have the man of my dreams i love him soo soo much . happy planning of weddings guys!!!! Im hoping mine will be may 2012, going to speak to the preist tomorrow!!!!

Some lovely stories here!! We're blessed with some very romantic men

My h2b picked my ring - he said I could swap it for something else but I love it more than one I'd've picked myself as I found out later off h2b's best friend that he shopped the length and breadth of Ireland and the UK - even went to New York - just to find my perfect ring!
Oh and in case anyone's wondering he proposed in Walt Disney World Florida right outside Cinderella's Castle and even after 7 years (at the time) together I honestly didn't see it coming! Poor fella was shaking so much I'm surprised he could hold the box I said yes, of course, after lots of happy and surprised tears!!
He told me later he was going to tie my ring on my dog's collar (cause my dog is my baby!) so I'd find it I said that was a sweet idea but the dog would probably have eaten it knowing h2b's luck Love the way he proposed - can't wait to one day tell our future kids all about romantic their Daddy is

My H2B was away on a charity walk for a week back in Sept and I went up to meet him in Dublin after it, they were getting pics taking down by the quays in dublin and they told me to go down and get in for pics aswell, after they were all taken he asked me to hold his helmet (his a fireman) and when I looked inside I could see this bright sparkly ring looking right back at me, next thing I knew he was down on one knee. Rest is a bit of a blur cos I was in so much shock....did not see it coming at all but have to say it brilliant the way he done it
