so disheartened(diet)

Postby lynniebins » Fri Jan 29, 2010 5:40 pm

hey guys,
im sitting here feeling so upset so decided id tell you all about it.
for the last 16 days i have been watching every morsal i put into my mouth, drinking minimum 2 lts water a day, just fish and veg for my dinner, very little carb, walking everyday for 1-1.30hrs and gym 2-3 times pw....heres the crunch, i am up 9lbs.im so sad i have spent all day crying.
i have previously lost over 9 stone and have maintained my weight for over 3 yrs at in and around 10.5 to 11 st(i always struggle as i put it up easily),i was living and working in the uk but moved home in october to prepare to move to middle east next month and since i moved home i have put up almost 2 st,
i have tried all fad diets b4 like cambridge, lipotrim etc but i really and truly think that my system has been depressed from all these diets which has reslted in my metabolism being v.v.slow.
what do i do, do i go back to liquid diets where i feel comfortable and in control or keep doing what im doing and put up more weight.
im not overeating at all, iv even kept a diary, but in order to lose weight you should eat 5/6 small meals a day, this i have been doing but it just seems to toally be going against me.
please help
does anyone know why this is happeneing me.

Lynniebins you poor pet. First of all well done for all the weight you lost and at least you didn't put it all back on and are nipping it in the bud. You are probably not eating enough and putting your body into famine mode and it has slowed your metabolism. I think you should try weight watchers. You haven't mentioned that and the first time you try it is usually very successful. Go on line, find a class and go next week. xxx

Lynniebins, from what you are saying and all the excersise you are doing, is that additional weight made up of new muscle mass?! Best thing to do is to measure yourself... arms, bust, waist, hips and thighs and record those measurements on a weekly basis. I bet they are going down but the muscle mass is going up! Also take into account your time of the month etc...! But well done you and keep doing what you are doing.... and i agree with BOF76.... try weight watchers and keep us posted!!!

Happy Birthday Lynniebins!
I am finding Operation Transformation very good. The food is really nice, I'm learning how to cook proper healthy dinners and I'm never hungry with the huge portions. The website is brill, there's vids to show how to cook the recipes and how to do the excercises, you just pick out the Leader you are most like and follow their plan.

measureing yourself instead of weighing is def the way to go
after loosing 2 stone myself i find the scales not moving at all
but when i measure myself i have lost more inches than weight
which is better as inches stay off longer
keep up the good work and well done on weight loss what an achievement

It sounds like two things

1). you are starving yourself and your body is holding onto fat reserves to survive (it thinks it won't get fed again ha ha), but you said you eat 5/6 meals a day so don't think it's that.

2). What the girls were saying about muscle. I think this sounds spot on.

So have you measured youreself? How have you found it? Did you have a nice B.Day? Happy b.day btw :)

I have a spreadsheet on my laptop which had date, weight, fat %, muscle %, water %, and measurements for 2arms, 2legs, 2thighs, wasit, hips, bust. Now I haven't been good at updating it, BUT I am, only down 2 lbs in the past 3 weeks, but everyone said to me this weekend "£gosh you've lost weight", then I noticed my jeans were hanging off my bum.

So basically just cos' the scales doesn't say it doesn't mean it's not working hun. Since you're exercising, I'm sure it's muscle you have gained. How do your clothes feel? How do you feel? Do you feel more fit, more energy, more toned and happy? This is more important than pounds. You'll prob find another week later on you'll be down loads of pounds on a week you weren't expecting.

If anyone wants the spreadsheet to keep track pm me.
