Dukan Diet

Postby pollyi2b » Tue May 31, 2011 8:35 am

Hey Ladies, :happywave

My friend in work (who's a GP) told me lastweek about the Dukan Diet so i googled it and thought it sounded interesting and decided to head off to easons to buy the book (€11.50) have been reading it non stop since Sat. Decided Sun to go with it and got myself all geared up for starting yesterday basically there are 4 stages. 1st stage is like the detox but a protein only detox for anything between 2-10 days im doing 5 days and today is day 2 and from this time yesterday i have lost 2 pounds. After the 5days you can add all types of veg and salad but you do alternate days of protein only then protein and veg. You see i have tried EVERY DIET EVER and iv worked out im an all or nothing gal as i was a life long serial rejoiner of Weight watchers i lost a pound here 2 there but the problem was when they told me i cud have a little bit of choc daily just count it in my points that was my downfall cos a little turned into alot and portion sizes were always over the recommended so here i am trying yet another diet and in a way its funny i actually for the first time understand it and kinda know what im doing. So yesterday i drank a lot of water, ate a oatbran mixed with canderel for breakkie, chicken for lunch and dinner and more cups of tea (Ur allowed skimmed milk) and i was not once hungry oh and you can have fat free yougarts so that was a saving grace but im 2 pounds lighter today and feel good if i can go 5 days without carbs and choc i think it will be a personal best and i will be proud of myself. I have 3 stone to loose thats 42 pounds so 2 down only 40 to go.......LOL wish me luck girls!!! Has anyone else tried this diet or does anyone else wanna join me for a bit of moral support!!????

Oh my god, I just head about this on Ian Dempsey this morn, I have about a stone and a half to lose, went to the dr yesterday and she said that I might have a problem with my thyroid, getting it checked soon, but have to get the implanon out first, but I really want to try this diet, are the lunches easy enough to be able to bring to work? As our canteen food is mainly fried crap!

Ohh I like the sound of this. I also need to lose about a stone and the last stone is almost the hardest to shift. I'm actually quite good with exercise but food is my downfall. Had a great week with exercise last week but had a chinese on Friday night and an Indian on Sunday along with a shit load of other crap over the course of the weekend!

I've just measured my true weight and all that jazz. Half thinking of popping to the book shop at lunch time but need to get my mind right before I try it. I presume you can't have carbs like rice, spuds, pasta and the like?

Ok so for all ye interested but dint have the book, I guess the best place to start is the beginning; phase one 'Attack Diet', this is what you have to do for the next 5-10 days:

You can have everything on the list without exception; everything that is not on the list is banned:

1, lean meats: beef (except rib and rib eye), veal, grilled or roasted without oil or fat.
2, Offal: kidneys, liver, beef tongue
3, all poultry, except duck or goose, but without the skin
4, all fish
5, all shellfish
6, low-fat ham, sliced low-fat chicken or pork
7, eggs
8, non-far dairy products
9, at least 1.5 litres of water
10, 1.5 tablespoons of oat bran
11, a compulsory 20min walk per day
12, extras: coffee, tea, vinegar, flavorings, spices, herbs, pickles, lemon, salt and mustard (in moderation.

Apart from these extras and the main food categories described, EAT NOTHING ELSE. All the rest, anything that is not expressly mentioned on this list, is forbidden during the relatively brief period of time that the attack phase lasts!!

So anyone else interested in joining do this for the next 5-10 days... Phase 2 will be added if you want when we get to it!

Good luck everyone... Here's hoping it works!
