Re: gym
i couldnt afford to join a gym but needed to lose weight.
in early feb, i started doing the couch to 5k programme which you get off google.
i have lost 18 pounds, am down a jeans size or 2 and can now run 5 kms in 30mins.
and its free!!!

Re: gym
Well done on the weight loss. I am looking to start a new fad as I always have to start something new to keep me interested. Just wondering if you started a specific nutritional plan while doing this?

Re: gym
If you want to boost it, I would try pilates or yoga, there is a pilates studio in stillorgan where the scouts hall is, beside fruitworld(?) that do classes. This will help tone you up all over and help with your core - I can vouch for the guys that run it as they used to work in my gym till they left to set up this place, they really know their stuff!!!
You could also look for bootcamps run in the area, these can be brilliant for helping with weightloss and toning up.
If you are still looking for a gym or would prefare a gym - westwood in leopardstown, curves in dundrum and deansgrange, crunch in UCD, friarsland, swan leisure centre rathmines, there is also David Lloyd in Clonskeagh but it is more expensive than the others.

Re: gym
couch to 5k is a runnin programme designed to get people with a low level of fitness to be able to run 5k in 30 minutes over the course of 9weeks, i actually really enjoyed doing it and go out running at least 4 nights out 7, 30 mins is not a lot out of the day, i feel so encouraged now that everyone in work and friends are commenting on my weight loss.

i am being careful about what i eat but that is not to say that i am not having crisps and chocolate every day, just not as much.
i would say i have totally decreased my carb intake, no pasta, no white bread, cakes etc.
i m eating lots of fruit, veg, salads and meats.
oh and if i am drinking alcohol, i make it a vodka and diet coke.
