Joining a Gym????

Postby SherryB » Tue Nov 01, 2011 2:52 pm

Anyone out there thinking of joining a gym before the big day???

My wedding is next September and I really want to start getting fit and shedding a few pounds. Lots of gyms are cheaper if a few people join together (and with all the wedding expenses who doesnt' want to save a few €€€€€€'s) so if anyone is interested please PM me and we can talk about it :)

Thanks a mil

If anyone in Lucan Dublin (or near) is looking to join a gym my one is fab (no pool though) and if 4 people join it is only €95 per person for a YEAR!!
I joined for €110 in June and LOOOOOVE it - They do up a program for you and I love it there - Gone down 4 sizes (nearly 5) since mid June!
I was a 24 or so and now a 14 or 16, Aiming for 12 to 14, wouldn't suit being smaller, too all & broad shoulders & hips!
Where are you based and other may reply to help you :)

Thanks girls :) I'm based in Dublin 12. I know Carlisle is doing a deal for 3 / 4 people joining and it's way cheaper. Which gym is it in Lucan?? Well done you, that's brilliant that you've gone down :)

Tks again :

My wedding is in August next year and I just joined a gym this month. I don't have weight to lose but I definitely want to tone up for the day and I don't want to join a gym 2 months before the wedding and expect miracles! I got a program from the instructors there which I've been following but to be honest I haven't been going much, averaging on once a week now but I will definitely be stepping it up once I get into 2012! I live in Donabate and joined the gym at the community centre there only €300 for the year - I know thats not much help to you but thought I'd share

Just an idea ladies, but why not do toning or weight loss classes for about 3 months to see how you go? Most people join gyms, do get down so much to workout or get caught up on direct debits, gym joining fees etc. if you do well in the 3 months and stick it out, then join a gym if desired. Just my opinion.

I go the gym in Bishopstown and just pay as I go as I do a lot of excercise weekdays and so pay to go to gyn on the weekends so I prefer that than a gym membership. There's womens fitness which is supposed to be a euro a day gym membership and thats by the kinsale rd roundabout and key to new you next door but thats a bit more expensive as its very much a personal trainer thing there.
Whereabouts in Cork are you? City or county?

HI Wuzzles,
I'm in Glanmire, and have a key to a new you up the road but it's a bit outside my price range, watching all spending as you can imagine!!!! I was joined the womes fitness a few years ago but I found the machines a bit boring, and it was full of really fit girls, it puts me off as I've a few stone to lose and a fair bit of toning to do. Bishopstown wouldn't be too far for me, but if I could find something a bit closer it would be ideal. Thinking of joining Planet or the Radisson, but at the same time I'm thinking of walking and doing a bit of weights etc at home. Decisions decisions :):)

Ever try a Zumba class? I think they're amazing... they're so much fun and you don't need to commit to a yearly membership if you find a pay-as-you-go class. Plus, they're like having a big dance party. There's no pressure to be an amazing dancer, just to have fun!

Check out the zumba classes in your area: www.zumba.com

Good luck either way!

PS- I am in no way affiliated with Zumba... haha! I just love it to bits. :)

I agree with the gym being boring for me but I joined a gym where majority of the classes are included including yoga and zumba and I have to say I am loving it.

I love Bishopstown as I dont feel out of place, lots of normal people and not just super toned so it might be worth going on a pay as you go basis until you find somewhere you like.
Yeah Key to New you is fierce pricey! There are also those rebel boot camps
http://www.rebelbootcamp.ie/ a friend of mine loved them but I just prefer to tootle along to the gym on my own terms. I also do Zumba in Donna's dance studio, really like it and its not super strict regarding moves so you can enjoy yourself without feeling the wally. Its good craic expecially if you can gather a few of your friends to come along. I know they do them in Blackpool as a girl in work goes there I could find out where for you if ya like
