I won't be losing weight for the wedding. I was measured for the dress and that is the size I will (hopefully) be on the wedding day. I have a few medical issues, so my weight goes up and down a lot. My dress fitting is tomorrow so we will see how that goes. If I am too big for the dress, I will go for a couple more runs and stop eating so much chocolate! That should do the trick, but I am not actively trying to lose weight. Seems like an awful lot of hard work to me! I feel fine the way I am, much better than when I was ill and just over 7 stone. If I don't eat correctly and over exercise, I get ill very easily, so I can't be bothered putting myself through that. If you feel comfortable on your wedding day, then stay that way! It is how people know you anyway, not 3 dress sizes smaller in like 4 months!

letmeeatcake, oh yeah, definitely not worth making yourself ill over. You're right tho, people do know you the way you are and that's the way you should be! Good luck with dress fitting!

BeckyM, good luck with your weight loss. I know what you mean re the the thighs! Mine are the reason i'd take a 14 in anything! Other than that, i'd be a 12 in everything i'd say! Shorts and swimsuits are my most dreaded items of clothing!!

Ive now signed up to myfitnesspal.com, not to lose weight, but to just keep an eye on calories to maintain myself as I am. And am going to ignore "helpful" comments from my work colleagues and family members from now on!!

Yes, maintaining weight is a whole different lifestyle, and if you don't keep on top of it, you could put on weight without even realising! Take advice from health professionals, but not from people who think they know best. I used to get that a lot too. Good luck with it! :highfive

I got a treadmill 2 weeks ago and use it every second day for 20 min jog I know its not alot but I am trying to build it up to everyday and for longer but then I just eat biscuits with my tea or cakes and say I will start tomorrow! don't no what is wrong with me, any advice?

I feel your pain JO0380733 - im the very same. im not a size 18. a 12-14 (which isnt big but its not what im used to and i feel incomfortable) at the moment. but over the last 2 yrs ive put on over 2 stone and cant seem to make any head road into loosing it. im studying for my phd ( nearly finished thank god) but i literally sit by the computer stuffing my face with biscuits and sweets and i dont have the energy to start doing excerise. whats worse is that my H2B is a fitness freak, as are my 3 bridesmaids. my dress will fit me as i am but i want to tone up my arms and loose a bit of my belly.

I feel like i fall into the same traps as you when i try to loose a bit of weight so here is what is working for me at the moment and i hope it helps. Firstly i think you are doing the right thing on the threadmill building yourself up gradually and you'll be surprised how quickly you notice it becoming easier, and rather than increasing your time when it gets a bit easier, maybe do it everyday for 20mins. secondly i have a serious weakness for all thing sweet so rather than cut it out completely(cos after 3days il go on a mad binge on chocolate) i allow myself one small bar or 2 biscuits with a cut of tea after my dinner.and bout 5 chewy sweets during the day to give me my sweet fix. also i try not to eat after 8pm cos the food is more likely to be stored as fat if you eat too late at niteand i only aloow myself to have a sauce wit my diner once a week and i also have a set weigh in day.every tuesday morning first ting after i get out of bed i weigh myself and write it down in a diary and not on it how much im up or down in the week-it just makes me aware of how the week has gone. over the last 6wks im averaging bout a pound a week-its not loads by any standard but its a lot and its all about getting you head straight and focused on loosing a bit. i hope that it will increase if i up the exercise a bit. hope you find this helpful JO-its all about small steps in the begining.good luck with it hun. im behind you all the way :highfive

Hi puddy2shoes,
Thanks a million for that, I know its hard, I actually weight myself every Tuesday morning also! I used to do weight watchers I lost weight but stopped going a month ago just felt that same think was been said in class and I was getting anything out of it! I must stop eating after 8 like you said and will up the exercise!

O stop my h2b has a fine figure! so he has nothing to worry about and my 2 bridesmaids are v slim so I am worried about the pictures as I will be the biggest! I would love to get down to a side 14 before the wedding that would be two dress sizes! I have my dress already and it fitted me when I got it but I am embarrassed to say I cant zip it all the way up now I have gained half a stone still I got it :shockhorror

With regard to arms and tummy I no sit ups and weights should help, but I still have not stuck to a plan for doing them!

I feel your pain with study I gained my weight while in college and I have 2 kids! I am doing an evening course now for the past year and with essays and projects and no how easy it is to have tea and the biscuits while sitting by the computer!

Brill idea to have something small with the tea as a treat and the chewy sweets during the day :clapper

Best of luck with your plan :smitten

My weight fluctuates quite quickly up and down so I was really just trying to maintain the middle ground in the run up to the wedding!! Been in the same size clothes the last 3 years they just get tighter or looser
When I was working in London I was thinner, but that was because I was living on red bull and cigarettes!
Whatever weight you can maintain on a healthy diet is how you're supposed to look, no point in adding extra stress to wedding planning!! ;)
