Self Sabotage!!

Postby alternativemrs2b » Tue Nov 01, 2011 11:21 pm

hey Missies,

I am really just thinking out loud here, but I am trying to rationally figure out why I am sabotaging my weight loss :furious I was doing so well, and was really proud of myself, I had lost 31 pounds over a few months and in the last 4 or 5 weeks I have been slowly but surely increasing portions, the take aways have been sneaking in and yes, I am back eating chocolate again :(
I just dont know why I do it, you would think that seeing the results of eating healthy and exercising that it would keep me going. Its been 4 weeks now since I have done any exercise (I hurt my back again initially but now its much better and can go at it again) but seem to have lost my drive and finding it really hard to get it back.

It's so silly really, and I know it's just a case of getting on with it, but why on earth do I sabotage when I am doing so well. I have such a lovely dress picked and will be getting measured in December to start the process of making it, and my eating habits seem to be getting worse the nearer it gets to the date :banghead What will I be like when it comes to the big day (September 2012) lol

Rant over, thanks for listening :) Tomorrow is a new day!!

Still trying to figure out how to get my ticker up here, cant get tickerfactory to work, so h2b is gonna make me one :D

Aw please don't be so hard on yourself. We all do that. We can't be good all the time!! Just ease yourself back in gently and you will get back on track. I am a devil for doing one great week and then ruining it all the next week!!!!!!!!!!

we all do it love, i went ballistic over the weekend on all the Halloween sweets. You lost so much already, well done. You know you can do it. You know when you plateau with weight loss, a break from the diet can help with weight loss. You know you can do it- time for dusting yourself off and starting afresh ( that's what I'm telling myself anyway!)

You Missies are just the best, thanks so much for that. I was just in a crap mood last night but today was a new day, and although I wasn't brave enough to get on the scale this morning, I do feel better today :)

I think when my routine was broken that was when the bad habits just kicked back in. So, onward and downward (scales wise  )

I think I might bring the remainder of the halloween treats into work tomorrow and get rid of them outta the house.

A big thank you to ye, ye really made me smile tonight

I would suggest that you were probably on such a low carb diet that you body just simply did all it could to get you to start eating sugars again. I hope you are back on track as I write this, but generally keep your diet high in protein and get the carbs from vegs in the evening. If at all practical, eat five meals throughout the day.

I had choc this evening, but instead of having my usual off the wagon large dairy milk, i had a frys choc bar. Lot less cals and i didnt crave more sugar later, the cocoa content in the bar, plus its relatively low sugar content made sure of that ;-)

drink at least 2 litres of water a day also. When you feel peckish, have some water to fill the stomach and eat 10 mins later if you still feel hungry. Often "phantom hunger pangs" disappear after some water.

Keep us posted on how you get on.

Best Regards
Michael

thanks Michael :)

I wasnt doing a low carb diet at all, the weight came off slowly but surely and was eating 3 meals, with two snacks daily (when I could manage it - difficult to do that at work sometimes). When I exercise I eat better, and vice versa, and when I hurt my back again (I have a pretty crappy back - have had 2 surgeries on it) and it was taking a few weeks for it to come right, I think I just got cheesed off, and said to hell with it, and started to slowly but surely eat the crap again and increased my portion sizes.

But, definitely today, I have a much better attitude :) I have started again, good healthy meals, smaller portions and eating more slowly. And am going to start again on the treadmill tomorrow evening, when I get in from work. Running outside is a definite no no but treadmill should hopefully be okay if I walk and run - what do you think?

A question for you - I swapped my diet coke addiction for sparkling water about a year and a half ago (which was huge for me, I used to drink about 2 litres of diet coke every day  ) so now I drink about that in sparkling water every day - is that okay if its not still water? Also, I love frys choc and Green and Black Cherry - thats my treat of choice too.

Thanks again

Pleasure sabo!

I used to be addicted to diet coke also, went off it for lent this year and went onto sprite zero. The problem is I find my sleep patterns are still erratic. Diet drinks are a real con, they are just as bad as the real deal. At least with the real deal you know it has sugar. The diet version has chemicals to keep the taste up. And dont get me started on aspartame. Try and get stuck into still water rather than the sparkling. The brain treats everything that tastes sweet as sugar regardless if its diet or not!

I try and be really good mon-sat, then come sunday eat whatever I want. I have gone from 27% bodyfat to 12% today! I hope you back eases up. I would be very careful with jogging on the treadmill. Try it, but any spinal issues need to be monitored very closely. Every step you take on the treadmill sends a vibration up your spine that is four times your bodyweight! Any issues while doing it, then just do a walk/powerwalk interval training session.

Hope that helps.
Keep in touch.

oh wow, go you!! Thats brilliant, you must be well chuffed! Aw man, really thought the sparkling water would be sound, cos its not flavoured, but knew it was too good to be true lol, I love my fizz! Yeah, I know all about aspartame, had really awful withdrawals from the diet coke (was quite scary) and knew that was the reason for them, so dug my heels in and my stubbornness won!! Will ease myself in gently tomorrow on treadmill and see how it goes. Thanks a mill. Let me know if you find the cure for erratic sleep patterns, i would be all ears!!
