Sick of salads

Postby bingowings » Wed Aug 10, 2011 1:51 pm

I'm so bloody sick of salads!!!!!

:chef Anyone got any nice and easy lunch ideas that are low carb/low fat/low fricken everything? Also just to be extra specially awkward I don't like fish. God how I wish I loved fish, it's so good for you and healthy and so many choices. I just can't eat the little fellers at all. I know I'm sick of salads but my salads tend to be a bit on the boring side so I'm not adverse to a nice salad recipe either.

Thanks in advance!

PS. If only you could add chocolate to everything!

I post this as I eat lunch salad number three of the week
I add olive oil and balsamic vinegar to my salads, and I think it makes them much more appealing.

My salads are like a pick n' mix, you could find anything in them, mixed leaves, ham, chicken, tuna, salmon, green olives, pickled onions, chilies, peppars, cherry tomatoes, grapes, spring onion, strawberies, cheese ( in little cubes), hard boiled egg, avocados

Not all atogether obviously, but different combinations..

Hope this helps :)

Stay strong, its so hard to resist temptation :(

you could have sambos instead. On healthy brown bread with a lick of light mayo instead of butter. Thats what Im doing at the moment cuz I hate salads. Im very fussy I hardly eat any veg at all.
when im sick of sambos I will change to a piece of plain grilled meat like chicken or beef and a variety of veg that i like for example carrots, broccoli and corn on the cob. I am trying to stay off carbs.

HTH :-) Keep up the good work! xx

+1 for the home-made soups. easy to make, filling and great for the cold.
I like Ryvita too - the seeded ones. They're lovely with low fat philedelphia or hummus with some tomatoe or cucumber (or both) on top.
Left overs from dinner the night before reheated or else in a salad (to bulk up a little leftovers) e.g. chicken curry, roasted veggies, brown pasta or rice. Also some beans in a salad are nice too - try the tins of 3 bean salad and just rinse off the brine - nice low fat protein option seeing as you're not into fish.

I make soups the odd time alright I just get a bit lazy! I suppose when you're dieting food just isn't that exciting. I'm going to have to pull the socks up now and when I'm shopping next I'll have a look at your ideas. Thanks girls. Oh and on the plus side I was looking at a shirt in my wardrobe this morning that I hadn't wore in about two years and gave it a go and it was really loose!!! My boobs weren't squashed into it like they used to be so the boring salads must be working!!! Happy days!!! Onwards and inwards ladies, onwards and inwards.

Thanks x

Bruchetta!! slice one chiabatta in half, put a tiny bit of olive oil on it.. chop up as many tomatoes as you like.. a bit of onion, into small small pieces... mix with a bit of balsamic vinegar. Grill the chiabatta and spread the mix over it... Sounds like effort but its not.

Tomatos are fat free!
