Epsom salts to aid weight loss

Epsom salts to aid weight loss

Postby Bride0310 » Thu Feb 04, 2010 2:31 pm

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone uses Epsom salts. I have been told recently that the salts added to a bath as hot as you can stand helps reduce cellulite and aids in weight loss.

Just wondering if anyone else has tried this and if they have any positive feedback on it. Also it can be used as a very good natural face cleanser!!!

Thanks!

:yeah i have heard this also
epsom salts draws impurities from the body
i don't think i would use it as a face cleanser though
if anything you will be nice and relaxed but the only thing about the really hot bath
when your getting out you feel like you could pass out so make sure you drink plenty of
cold water while in the bath and enjoy no harm in giving it a go

Ok so i had my epsom salt bath last night..... went for a walk and then came home and filled the tub.... it was bloody hot. Poured in my salts and dunked myself in for half an hour. Weighed myself before hand and then after.... i lost a pound!!! So really it didnt seem to have much of an effect except to make me feel faint!!!!!!! But i guess if i had stuck it out for the hour i might have lost 2 pound so might just try it again!

it sounds like it was water that you lost if it was that hot!

I tried this before.
I was going to a wedding as a guest and my dress was a little too tight for my liking.
So the night before I took a hot bath with the epsom salts in it... staying in for 1/2 hour i think..
It works,, the dress was much more comfortable.
but beware: you will only be fit for the bed after the bath.. you will be completely drained.
Also be aware, its not really weight you are loosing its excess water.
the idea is the bath water (with the salt) , has a higher salt concentration than your body so it draws out excess water from your body (particularly if you suffer from water retention)
so i would recommend this as a once off only.... it will stop working anyway once any excess water has been lost.
Im afraid that the only way to loose weight is the hard way: eat less, move more.
Good luck!

Hi All,
I dont believe this is a good thing for us to do, it only makes us think we're skinnier so waste of time. Epsom salts are fantastic however for easing muscle pain following a hard workout (something that WILL help us shed the pounds and permanently too!). The bath doesnt have to be scolding hot either - just a normal warm bath - so relax and enjoy it - We shouldnt be punishing ourselves here ladies :)

Combined with a detox and dry scrubbing beforehand, a bath with Epsom salts will definitely help reduce cellulite. It won't help you lose weight though.

I tried a colonic irrigattion before and while it was a wierd kind of experience I am definitley going to do one a week for a few weeks coming up to the big day because I felt great after it, my skin was really clear and I did lose a few lb's too.. great for reducing bloating around your midsection!
