Started slimming world last night! Confusing!

Unread postby Rosean » Fri Jun 22, 2012 3:00 pm

Hey all you struggling dieters .. Ugh! I am motivated (cough) but on the first day it's been tested. I've had a crappy Oul day and all I want to do is slug a bottle (or two) of wine tonight only to discover its 24 syns a bottle!!! I'll have to manage a way round that..

AnywAy that's not the point.i got engaged in October and promptly started weight watchers. Getting nowhere and lacking majorly in the motivation department I gave it up as a bad job in February. Waking up in night sweats or beaming embarrassment several nights in the last few months over the size of myself I thought something had to be done. I was praying and pleading for motivation but it wouldn't come. My entire thoughts were consumed by my weight and the anxiety was be becoming a problem (waking in the night with dread) .. I've never been as heavy as I am now and this thought rolled around in my head what felt like 24 hours a day.

On Saturday evening past I decided to give slimming world a chance. I've previously lost 3.5 stone on weight watchers back in 2006 but due to happenings in life I piled it back on since 2009 .. I can't believe it but it happened. To my embarrassment I'm a qualified aerobic and fitness instructor and part of my course was diet and nutrition so while people think they are being helpful offering advice and encouragement there was nothing anyone. Old tell me that I didn't already know or hadn't done before. I 100% believe that losing weight is all in the jpower of the mind. Mind onver matter. Psychological. People say things like "just do it" and "if you want it badly enough you'll do it" .. I wanted it badly enough believe me.

On the first day as I sit here I'm a bit confused as to what I can eat for dinner. There are a lot of free foods on the slimming world plan so I'm sure I'll figure it out.

With only just over 5 months to go until the big day and 4 stone to loose I've decided I'd be delighted to get 2 stone off in that time. It is possible but that is totally up to me. 2 stone would take the edge off and make a huge difference to how I look around my face and shoulders etc and I'd be delighted with that.

I'll report back and keep you posted on the weight loss. Weigh in is next Thursday at 5:30. As I post this I am afraid.. Afraid of the fickleness of motivation and how it can slip away in the blink of an eye. Please god let this work .. If only until November. Some friends and family n law members on hearing of my engagement commented that I'll be hitting gym and getting the diet books out now .. Not helpful.

Good luck all if you're starting off or continuing on .. :):):) x

:happywave The one thing i love about slimming world,is you can still eat all your favourite foods and lots of it! I'm having sausage, egg and chips tonight, all the slimming world way! The place where i work, sells the meals and the meats, and i cant get over the people coming in,they look fab, literally half the size they were. I've 10 weeks left and hoping to lose a stone, but i'm just aiming for half a stone at the minute.Stick with it for a few weeks and i bet you'll see a big difference! Good luck :)

Thanks Lorraine :) hmm it's going ok.. Although I had a bottle of wine last night but it's usually 2 on a Friday nite so I did sacrifice lol. Went shopping today and stocked up on all things slimming world. Need to get out walking from tomorrow on, the rain hasn't stopped here this 2 days. I know a good few people who have done brilliantly at SW too, it encourages you more to see other people doing so well. I'm still motivated and sticking with it .. So far so good. Just had. Toffee mullah lite with chopped banana, tasty enough and I'm definite satisfied :) good idea to aim for the half stone then anything over that will be a welcome bonus. Best of luck Lorraine, keep us posted :) :)

Oh my god Lorriane that's fantastic!! Well done you! Wow. Well my sister and chief bridesmaid twisted my arm for a night out on Sunday night and I went.. And I drank wine.. Dun dun dun! After being so good on Friday night. I have been super good with the eating tho and I rarely drink two nights in the weekend so that that sorted. Next thing I have to work on is getting active.. That wil really speed things up I know. So after 2 nights on wine I'm not expecting a huge weight loss but I'm still on my motivational road so I have faith :) off to eat my syn free home made chicken soup loadsa veg and potato dinner now :):) congrats again. I'll report tomorrow night

Oh thanks Nadey :):) I'm dreading the weigh in, first week is supposed to be the best week.. Ah well, I'll go easier on the wine this week lol. As long as the eating is in hand it shouldn't be too bad! :) x

Jeebus H Christ just giving up drinking TWO bottles of wine in one night would help you lose weight, that's a feckload of useless calories to be wasting. I'd be hospitalised if I drank that much in one go
