Re: ANY TIPS WELCOMED
If you give me an idea of the type of invite you like and how many you need I'll make up a couple of samples and give you a list of supplies and where I'd suggest you get them. Where in the country are you?
You can see my business website via the link on here but I also have my personal blog which is 90% cards at www.boxercreations.blogspot.com

What I am doing is creating a mood board...kinda like a scrapbook of colours and themes that I like, flowers, cards, place settings and anything else I see in magazines, not just bridal magazines but house and home magazines...
I have found a lovely website :www.marthastewart.com in the wedding section it give very good fresh ideas!

Re: ANY TIPS WELCOMED
Wedding favours are origninally from Italy, called bombonieri, and they were little sacks (tulle etc) with a small decoration attached (glass flower or small figurine). The bags or sacks contain 5 sugar almonds which have meanings like fertility, prosperity etc. You could easily make your own favours by twisting the original meaning and styles.... I did them for my daughter's communion.
I bought:
40 small glass candle-holders for 30 cent each = 12 euro
silver glass paint for about 4 euro
candles 2 euro for a box of 6, I think = 42 euro
the tulle-like material off the role cost about 30 euro
small coloured glass stones, bags of 10 stones for 50 cent each, I think = 10 euro
packs of little stick-on-dolls in white dresses which could be communion girls or brides (types used for home-made cards), 4 dolls for 1 euro each = 10 euro
length of ribbon for 5 euro
total cost approx 115 euro, for 40 bombonieri which are given to the women only, unless there are male guests who arrive alone. ie given to sister for sister, brother-in-law and their children, brother's girlfriend for couple, brother if single etc!!!
I invited the girls around once I had bought everything, 3 or 4 bottles of wine and take-out dinner included!
We cut the tulle-like material into circles, painted my daughter's name and the communion date onto the glass candle holders, put the candles in the holders and put them in the middle of the tulle cirlces with 5 glass stones (representing the italian sugar almonds!). We pulled the tulle around the candles in their holders, and tied them closed with the ribbon. Then we stuck the little dolls onto the ribbons to finish the bombonieri off!!! In Italy the almonds are eaten and the figurines are kept in a display case, all women have them, and as I knew many of them would end up in Italy I wanted the ones I made to hold their own in these display cabinets! It took a while to source everything, and finalise what I wanted to do, but I saved myself a fortune (my H2B's sister spent over 500 euro
What about using rolos (aren't they the sweets of love?) or ferero roche, or there are Italian sweets called baci (meaning kisses), instead of sugar almonds? Small figurines can be bought in bulk. Use your colour scheme when choosing the sweets, candles, figurines, tulles and ribbons etc. Tulles of course could be ivory and you can use purple ribbon and a pale purple candle, or purple glass flowers?
get researching!
get on ebay, check out sites for ideas: weddingfavours.ie might be a good one, but any artsy type site will give you ideas, I saw a cute one once, kisses in a cup (single sweet - here you could use a rolo or baci- in a strong plastic black spoon wrapped in blue tulle and closed with a blue ribbon, just change your colours and you have favours for well under 2 euro each!!!!) most of all.... Get creative! once you have your idea you can start searching for your materials!Good luck!
