CHURCH BOOKING FEES

Postby CHLOE1 » Wed Mar 02, 2011 8:31 pm

hi

when booking a church outside our parish (our parish not available) we have discovered the so called booking fee's of upto eur500 in a number of different dublin church's. Is this the norm now or is the day of giving a donation long gone???

Hi Chole1,

The days of donations are long gone our church 270 another one we were gona go with was 350! Even for my sons christening a few months back we got the envelope for the "donation" which said on it that it had to be a least 40 euro! We were going to give 50 like we did for our daughters but when i seen that we changed our minds!!!!

Yea they can even go higher than €500

Thats one of the reasons we decided Civil Ceremony was for us!

It's crazy really!I'm getting married in Dublin and as far as I know there's no booking fee. Nothing was said about it to us either!

Then you still have to pay the priest, choir, flowers for church etc
Also, church weddings have more people, transport, so every aspect of your day price is being added on!
We just said enough is enough!!
We are delighted with our choice!!

Apart from the fact we haven't been to church in years (other than funerals)
I personally would feel a hypocrite

Double check that (if getting married in a church)
Last thing you want is to be faced with that on the week of the wedding

OMG, you are joking!! Holy cr@p! I thought that'd be something they'd tell you when you meet with the priest the first day. I'm scared now!

hi
Forgot to mention that our wedding is not till 2012 yet to "hold" the church the so called booking fee's have to be paid now 13 months in advance!! Is this just a scam to get as much money as possible for the church or does this go on all the time?? as this fee was not mentioned untill the money had to be returned with the "booking form" note the small writing at the bottom of the forms!!

i wasn't told automatically, but asked and it was €150 which is fair enough i guess. You would pay that much to rent a building to use for a day! Probably 150 for priest too, but since im not the one who wanted a church wedding i'm not paying for it :P
was expecting 500 after what i'd read on here

Well, I've already booked the church. I'm gonna go mad if they tell me there's a booking fee, sure aren't they getting hundreds of euros worth of flowers from me!? They can feck off! I will be absolutely disgusted if they tell me there's a booking fee now and I can't even change to another church cos I've already ordered the invitations.
