Few Questions....

Postby LOK2be » Wed Jan 04, 2012 6:58 pm

Firstly Congratulations everyone, we've just got engaged and we've been together 7 years so we're only having a short engagement. We're thinking June 2012 cause we both have family abroad that are home that month. So I have so many questions and so little time... Any help would be appreciated! Thank you in advance.... Firstly, has anybody had a Catholic Church Ceremony in the Rep Of Ireland in the evening? I don't know if its possible and I really think it would suit us. I'm hoping to have a really small group, 30 people, so I'm afraid an all day thing, people would be bored?! So I'm thinking, late service, dinner and drinks and maybe some music, does anybody know of a venue we could do this at for such a small group? Most hotels have massive function rooms that we'd be lost in, or if we go for a restaurant, I doubt we could have music too?! I'm very confused (as you'll probably gather) I'm rubbish at making decisions and so is my OH so with 6 months to plan a wedding, I'm not sure how we'll get on... :dizzy :crazy Thanks so much for any advice or help! xxx ps if you don't know the question about the evening wedding, do you know what time the latest afternoon wedding could be?

Hiya Lok2be,

Firstly congratulations! What part of the country are you getting married in? There are loads of small venues about that would cater for small weddings. Alot of gorgeous manor houses and castle type venues are restricted to small numbers. I am not sure about the latest possible time for a wedding but I can see there being a problem. If you just call the parish that you are planning it in then the priest can advise on what time they will cater for. Your wedding idea sounds so lovely and intimate. Good luck with the planning and enjoy

Hi hun, first of all welcome and congrats.

Ok Dont panic, as u are planning an intimate wedding you will have time to organise it. what partnof the country are you based? cashel palace hotel has lovely rooms which you could use, also room for a band/dj and the wedding crowd wouldnt be lost in it. Thats the only one i can think of off the top of my head :)

Sorry i have no idea what the last time in the evening would be, but im sure 5ish depending on mass time's. also you have a good bit of church paper work that will need sorting if you are not getting married in your own parish, but its all very doable :bounce

Thank You Littlemisscupcake & Hailey! We're in Wicklow but we don't mind anywhere within an hour or so? Preferably coastal cause I'd love to be close to the sea for some pictures, but really we're flexible with venues. I will phone our local parish tmw and see what there last service is - thanks for advice! I will check Cashel Palace too - Thank you xxx
