Hi Missies
As you can see this is my first post! We're engaged a month now and hoping to get married this-yes this- October! Neither of us are in any doubt about getting married, just to be clear I just am having a bit of a freak attack today!
I'm sure we can easily organise the wedding in 5 months, but someone helpfully asked me last night why we were doing everything in such a hurry and her comment really bothered me! (usually other people's opinions don't worry me too much).
Is there anyone else out there experiencing something similar? Or have you in the past? Just in need of a bit of reassurance!
We are getting married then because, well, it suits us to! Venue has availability (and we really want THAT venue!); OH is foreign and it's not such a bad time of year for his family to visit; fits in with other things we want to do..... We have thought this through.

Help!!! (I'm sure I'll probably be fine tomorrow but just in case....)

its none of their business why you are having it when you are, they are probobly just being gossipy and nosey!!! Dont let them upset you. Its amazing how insensitive people can be when it comes to weddings , and this probably wont be the first comment from someone that surprises you! We are doing the same 7 months from engaged to married, because our venue was available otherwise we'd have had to wait until next year! Your H2b's family have to travel so your date makes sense! Tell them not to be so nosey....but all factors fit for you, so thats why youre marrying then! So fingers to those who try to upset you, (lol) its both your day, so enjoy it! They should feel priveledged they are being invited or involved!!

Don't mind everyone else.
If I could rewind time I would def have a shorter engagement and mine will only be 12 months.
I had the hotel, photographer, band and DJ booked within two weeks of getting engaged, I've appts made for legal side of things and the rest will all fall into place. You will be fine planning a wedding in 7 months, forget about eveyone else!

To hell with what anyone else thinks!! People are gas voicing their opinions, if only you could buy a filter for mouths, I would slap a load of them on people i know ha ha!!!

You will have no bother getting everything organised, we got engaged in March and have nearly everyting done already, it was really easy and everything just seemed effortless for us. Good luck!

i wudnt mind wat other people say,i think a lot of the time people have long engagments is coz they have to save well that was the way wit us neway if we had a choice we wud have got married sooner but we cudnt afford to.why wait if u dnt have to!

Thank you so much everyone. I am just going to have to be stronger and repeat the line "because it suits us...." over and over again! At the end of the day, the venue we want is only available the weekend in october or then not until next sept and we really don't want to wait that long!
We're not loaded so God knows where the money will come from but I think if we stick to our guns about the stuff that's important to us-all will be well.

I totally feel your pain! My Future MIL asked us why we were having our wedding so quickly. She asked that back in March and we are getting married in August ....... 2012! She doesn't have as much money as perhaps she would like to have to help us out but we have our own money so whatever. I understand she would like more time to save but you can't please all the people all the time. The only people you essentially have to please is yourselves. In our case its OUR MONEY being spent so damn straight it is going to be OUR WAY!

I know I would make our engagement much shorter if I had the money, I reckon there is absolutely no need to validate your decision and you should wind them up by saying you were going to wait but then you won the lotto so money was no issue and no the nosey parkers cant have any of your millions
