Hello and any advice to get me started?

Postby bluefluff » Wed Feb 01, 2012 4:47 am

Hello, this is my first post and all going to plan I will be back to ask for more help :blahblah
We have yet to arrange at date but me and my H2B are looking to have a small ceremony/meal ad then a party for anyone who wants to come. I've a few hurdles in that I'm organising from abroad, a budget of about 2,500 for the dinner/ afters party and my H2B's family will be travelling from America so I would like to have somewhere nice at least for the ceremony(likely a blessing after officially getting married) and a dinner for approx 35people.

Any ideas currently in the exploratory stages! :crazynut

:bluewave Congratulations! You'll get loads of great tips from this site. It's been my saviour.
With regards to venue hunting, which part of the country are you getting married in? Would you consider a hiring a restaurant as your venue? There are lots of small hotels that could be an option too. They just might not be well known because they're small. The cost of it will depend on the number of guests you have really because it will £$Ex per head for meal and then £$Ex per head for evening food. Hope that helps.

There is only place I can suggest because it is brilliant!!! Summerhill House Hotel in Enniskerry, Wicklow, its 15 minutes from Dundrum (straight run through some lovely scenery), the hotel is gorgeous, the food is fab (I almost drolling thinking of the breakfast I had there!) the village would be great for pictures and our stay there was very reasonable. You are just down the road from Powerscourt Garden and the Waterfall (2 different locations but near each other). The only reason I'm not having my wedding there is because its too far for my H2B's elderly parents to travel to.
