Welcome to the site!

Italy sounds nice for a wedding, but Greece and Spain are quite popular as well. I would suggest taking into account the guests for the day, as Italy is more expensive in general that other countries, so make sure you do your homework on prices for accommodation, food, transport, alcohol, etc. before you book anywhere. People nowadays are spending less and might decline an invite due to cost. I don't have any concrete advice though on where to go, but good luck in the hunt! :highfive

Loads of places to look at abroad! Cyprus, Greece, Spain, France, Croatia, Gran Canaria, Malta or how about further abroad like New York, Las Vegas, Florida. Loads of wedding brochures in the travel agents and a lot of them explain if their are different requirements re: paperwork for each destination.
Exciting times ahead! Happy Planning :bounce

Welcome to the mad house!!! You will get plenty of great advice here. My sister got married just outside Barcelona in a town called Sitges and it was fab. We were at a wedding in May just outside Toulouse in France, little town called Auch and that was fab too. That's the extent of my foreign weddings I'm afraid!!!!!

Thanks for all the comments, advice and the huge welcome!!! And sorry for the late reply.... hectic week!! :banghead

Still no closer to picking a place, need to get himself to sit down WITH me and go over the options..... much easier said than done!!

kmay.... Cyprus looks beautiful, very tempting! was it difficult to get to?? dont think there are any direct flights, I could be wrong.........

Fionab... thanks for the names of places, I'll def look into them, I love the idea of an intimate wedding in a small town/village location...

Bonesy... the amount of info out there is jus so overwhelming... have you found any places in particular in Sorrento that look good?

Wuzzles..... thanks for all the suggestions!! We wanted to go to New York for a Christmas wedding but when we took into consideration all the costs, amd expense for others we had to decide against it! :( Also its quite a distance and I really want my gran to be there, especially since she's the only living grandparent and I dont think she'd do a long flight!

My goal is to have a date and location (even if not a venue!!!) by the end of this month!!! Fingers crossed! Wish me luck! lol :brideandgroom1

Hi Daisyfairy in Sorrento I'm looking at the Cloisters for a civil ceremony it's fab to have a church wedding in Sorrento you have to be a resident there so the nearest church is in Positano which is around 15/20 mins away.We were in Sorrento in June and just love it 8-) For the reception we're looking at the Villa Antiche Mura there's great feedback on line I know someone who's getting married there next wknd so can't wait to hear how it goes :bounce :bounce
With this villa you pay to hire it for the day...you should check it out, hope this helps :happywave
