Hello there :)

Recently engaged, don't know where to start? C'mon in and say hello to the other Missies...

Hello there :)

Postby mrsshaunryan » Sat Aug 06, 2011 6:24 pm

Hi there!

I just joined the forum today but to be honest I've had a bit of a lurch around in the past! My fiancé popped the question in January and we've only in the past two weeks set the date and been thinking about our wedding. I went to look at the venue we want during the week and the day is blocked of for us so that's kind of as far as we've got.
We are going to have a civil ceremony and then have a blessing and reception a few days later. MY sister is studying photography so one of her friends is going to do our photo's for us. My fiancé is a film maker so one of his friends will film it for us. Another friend will make our cakes and other then that we're going to try do as much of it ourselves.

I'm looking forward to all the help and tips on the forum!

Thanks guys!! it's really exciting stuff! I'm trying very hard not to be a big bridezilla! (I think my h2b would tell you I'm past trying though!! :? )
We're hoping to book the Aras Chronain in Clondalkin, it's a lovely house that was built in the 1880s and has been restored. The also have a lovely function room, conservatory and garden so there is plenty of photo ops there!
Thanks for the welcomes, I hope I can contribute to a great forum and get some great tips!

Áras chrónáin is a great spot. My sister had her 21st there years ago. i wish I'd have thought of choosing there. Do you have to organise your own caterer?

They have an in house caterer so if we get a good price we'll use her, if not we have the choice to organise it ourselves. To be honest it was my sister who suggested it to me and it's just perfect for us! The function room fits up to 200 people so its just great! We we're planning on having the reception and speeches in the house before moving into the function room.
