Hi everybody, am new to forums generally. I'm getting married October 2011 and am completely clueless when it comes to weddings. We've booked the church and started the notice requirements but we're trying to sort out a venue in Limerick based on 120 people. Has anybody got married in the Strand hotel in Limerick?? We like the venue but are not sure how much we can haggle off their price!

Also, if anybody has any ideas on making savings I'd love to hear them. I'm unemployed and entitled to no social welfare payments with a small child. My fiance is in a steady job but it seems as that based on our position we won't get a loan so it really is a shoestring budget.

Congrats on setting a date! Dont know anything about yopur chosen venue sorry but just keep hagglin the worst they can say is no!
THere are lots of ways to save on your budgets from making urown favours to asking a friend with a nice car to drive the bridal party. it is very do able. U can also get DIY invites they might take a bit of time but save a few euro.
I knwo theres a book out how to have a champagne wedding on a bucks ffizz budget, that suppose to be excellent. Also few suppliers on here that offer discounts to missies

Congrats and welcome to the site. I was at a wedding in the Castletroy Park Hotel in Limerick. The staff were great and very welcoming. I also had my hen in the Absolute hotel in limerick. They gave us a great deal on rooms, dinner & cocktails. The staff were very welcoming and were always willing to help us if we had any problems.
