Hi from a newbie!

Recently engaged, don't know where to start? C'mon in and say hello to the other Missies...

Hi from a newbie!

Postby No_Regrets » Sun Jul 31, 2011 8:50 pm

Hi there everyone,

Just got engaged a week ago so it's still new and sinking in! We are hoping to get married at some stage in 2012. Would anyone have any info on positives and negatives to winter weddings as late in December might suit us very well? Also, for small weddings of 60 - 100 people, does anyone have any experience, thoughts, advice?! Thank you!

Congratulations!!! Loads of winter brides to pass on info here so Id say you should be flying. A few of the wedding reports are winter weddings too so definately worth a read! I love the idea of a New Years Eve wedding and everyone counting down till midnight makes it that extra bit momentous :)

Welcome to the site! :bluewave I am having a winter wedding (Janaury 7th) and I like the idea that everywhere won't be packed with people we don't know on our day. Also weddings are more popular in the summer, so people won't have "wedding fatigue" after attending maybe 3 or 4 in the space of a couple months and will enjoy yours more. Honeymoon destinations are generally cheaper as well. Suppliers ie photographers, hairdressers, caterers should have a bit more free time and you have more choice than you normally would for the busy summer period as they book up quickly.

I'm having a December wedding. We decided to have both the ceremony and reception in the one venue so nobody has to move around anywhere, especially if it's bad weather. :snowman Something u might like to consider :-)

We are having a winter wedding too (29th December) and like b2b123 there is only 5mins between the church and the hotel just in case weather is bad! The good thing about a Christmas/Winter wedding is that a lot of people are home. there are pros and cons for both winter and summer weddings so it really is up to yourself. Happy planning!!!!
