Hi i'm a Newbie and i need some advice

:happywave Hi,
I'm new to the forum and could use some advice. I got engaged last August. Myself and my partner have decided we want to elope (in Ireland). We both have too many family and friends to be able to afford a proper wedding. As himself has already been married (now divorced with decree absolute already applied for and received), we have decided to have my mum and sister as witnesses. It will be just the 4 of us. Our problem is where to have our civil ceremony. We would like a luxurious spa hotel but are stuck as to what to do after and before the meal in terms of entertainment. We are quite open to new ideas, all suggestions welcome.

Hey no help to you with regards to civil ceremony, just wanted to welcome you to the site :happywave

When you say entertainment afterwards, are you talking about for just the four of you or a party to include family and friends?

That sounds lovely! We considered eloping, it was such a pain that you have to give the 3 months notice! I'm not much help to you I'm afraid. We are having a small wedding in a church with immediate family and some friends (25 in total). Then fab hotel afterwards for a lovely meal, we have bar to ourselves for night, having an ipod to play music, bringing a couple of guitars as some of my friends play and are brilliant singers (we both play and sing badly!) and then into residents bar if people want to. All very relaxed and laid-back, can't wait! A girl I know got married in secret, they had one sibling each as witnesses and didnt tell anyone (even parents) until afterwards! I think it's a lovely thing to do. Enjoy whatever ye do and don't let anyone try to change your minds - it's your day, do it your way ;)

Well, my problem is that none of us are big drinkers really. I was thinking of booking the four of us into a luxury spa hotel the day before and pampering ourselves with massages, facials & jacussi's, then a spot of dinner. The next day (wedding day) to have a civil ceremony at the hotel, maybe in the garden and have a photographer take some professional pics, then a gorgeous meal after. MY problem is what then? It will be a dull day if thats it, not much going on to kill time. MY partner was suggesting maybe go to the theatre or to see a show or something, which i'm quite open to. Any ideas?
