Hi ladies:)

Recently engaged, don't know where to start? C'mon in and say hello to the other Missies...

Hi ladies:)

Postby Kerrygal » Sun Apr 24, 2011 5:06 pm

Thought it was time to introduce myself:) I met my other half October 2009 and we knew within a couple of days that wed met our soulmate. In February 2010 we moved in together it made complete sense as we were spending every night together. We had started speaking about getting married about marriage and starting a family which we both hope to do. On the 28th of May 2010 my hubbie to be suprised the life out of me when at half 8 in the morning he got down on one knee and by his own admission blubbed his way through telling me he loved me and asked me to be his wife. He involved our little dog by tieing the ring ontu her collar. The next few days were a blur of trying to keep it off facebook before we told my family in Kerry to our engagement party in June. We have set our date as the 27th of September 2012 the day before we got engaged and 2 days before my Grans anniversary who was my mum figure growing up. It hasnt all been plain sailing life as I have a MIL who wants to tell us how we should run our day a SIL who is peeved off as her sister is a bridesmaid and shes not pardon me if Im closer to one  a cousin on my h2b's side whos pissed off cause hes not being a groomsman and a so called friend choose the exact same dress as I had despite haven seen mine (as shes getting married before me and my other half Im now dress shopping!!) Other than that so far we have the Church (my parish church in Kerry) booked, our cake selected, our reception venue chosen (have to pay deposit) and our Priest chosen (a close family friend). As Ive just realised how long this is Im going to wish you all the best with your plans looking forward to chatting to you all here on our journeys to become mrs:)

Ahh yea almost 100% there just packing, finalising our personalised vows, making the Cd for the ceremony, getting all the stuff together lol.

I was also raised as catholic but rarely go to church so would feel hypocritical going to have a church wedding just cause its the "done thing" but thats me being me lol!
Have you anything done yet??

My sil did the civil ceremony in a fabalous place in Galway everyone said it was one of the best weddings theyve been at!! How hard was it writing your own vows?
Weve the church, priest and reception booked just have to get the deposit to them and the bridal party selected. Our close friend is doing the cake. We also have a storage box upstairs with bits weve picked up like the cake knife, shoes, garter, thank you cards and other bits and pieces.

Hi Keerygal, welcome and happy planning.

I too met my 'Soulmate' in August 2009, started dating in Novemvber, knew after a few months that we were made for each other and wanted to get married have kids etc...So in November 2010 (our one year anniversary) he proposed, Ive never been happier or more sure of anything in my life, cant wait to marry him, we're getting married on 14th April 2012...just under a year to go, Sooooooooooooooo exciting.

Happy planning, this sight is great for getting ideas, or questions answered.
