Hey Ms S,
My heart goes out to you. Weddings, unfortunately can bring out the worst in people . I think your best bet would be to rise above it and do everything you can to let their words go over your head. It sounds like no matter what you do, it won't be good enough, so no point booking the K Club just to shut them up.

My future Bro-in-Law gave us a two hour lecture and I mean there was spittle flying in my face, on how our venue was the worst possible choice. He wasn't even subtly mean like your future in laws. We both just let him rant and rave and then the very next day we put our deposit down.

My family are so go with the flow and would NEVER EVER make any negative comment on our wedding even if we said we were getting married in a bog hole. Thank god the H2B and myself are on the same page though. It would be very upsetting if he was oblivious to his brother's behaviour.

What about your H2B? Is he aware of this?

OMG that is soooo pig ignorant - what is it with some people that they
have an unshakeable belief that there opinion is more valuable than anyone elses?
When we can actually name a date, no one is having any say or opinion at all - except h2b of course , well he might if he behaves
Family and friends will get an invite and after that off with them and their opinions!

Yeah, in laws were invented to maintain equilibrium. For all the happiness and excitement we get from wedding-planning, they are there just to balance out the happiness! My advice is do not pay any heed to negativity and do not settle on anything that you or h2be may be unhappy with. Don't let them push you around and if they want you to do x, y and z, tell them they need to pay for x, y and z or shut their whiney yaps! Sorry if I seem overly aggressive in my advice, I guess I have a little residual bitterness left over from my own in laws 2 be!
