Hi everyone i'm a newie, We plan on getting married in Barcelona (we think...) next year, but the unusual thing is its just gonna be the 2 of us..... Has anyone else done this???

I read a beautiful article by a photographer somewhere where he went to New York to photograph a couple who travelled there to get married and it was just the couple and him. If I can find the link I'll put it here. It was really lovely and the photos were stunning.

That sounds really nice! Do you not need to have witnesses for the wedding on the day though?

Yea we need witnesses, but i'm hoping the wedding planner will be able to organise that for us..I'm just waiting on 1 to get back to me. We were thinking of lanzarote and the wedding planner there said it would be no problem, but we had to change that cause we want to go on a cruise as the honeymoon and you cant do that from Lanzarote....

I see you have a lot of things sorted! I think that it would be lovely, just the 2 of you and then a honeymoon by yourselves. Will you be having a party or something when you get back home then for friends and family? I don't have anything to help you out, I am just being nosey because it sounds nice! Sorry!

Hiya and welcome! My sister got married 3 years ago outside Barcelona in a town called Sitges and it was fab, beautiful town, lovely prom and a lovely church. She had a great wedding co-ordinator called Valerie. If you want I can check with her to see does she still have Valerie's details??

Hi letmeeatcake, yeah we intend on having a party the week after we return, we havent actually announced our engagement yet...... So we dont know how its all gonna go down..... But we think it'll be ok..... Fiona the wedding planner i'm waiting to get back to me is Valerie O Donoghue, if you could check with you sister to see if that was the same one as she had that would be great.....

Welcome welcome!! Sounds lovely! My friend did this. They got married in dublin and she had her grandmother and his grandmother there. Then they went to the four seasons, got a suite and had dinner with her grandmother just the 4 of them in the suite. was perfect for them as they have loads of serious family drama but they loved it and wouldnt have done it any other way

That sounds lovely hun my hb2 would have loved to done this but I wanted the big white wedding I would love to do it in one sense (as we both come from broken homes in it would be easier)& then in another sense i want what i am planning! My sil 2 be did this, she got married in bora bora, just her hb2be her 2yr old son her step daughter & her niece they wer both 13 so they wer her witness, she came home then n had a big party n it was like a big wedding bit it started from the first dance at 7o clock & it was a buffet & all the rest. it was fab n so relaxed. She had a big screen in the room & had the ceremeony that she had over playin, n pics n music n stuff,its was fab n very different!!! we danced the night away think it was like 7am when i went to bed

Sounds exactly what myself and H2B have decided to do with our little girl, and I say fair play to doing it the way you want and not the 'norm' and doing it for everyone else!

Sounds absolutely fantastic!!! I'd love to do it... but my mother would NEVER speak to me again!! lol Hence why we've settled on a small wedding abroad, jus family and close friends!
It is very tempting though, and we even looked into it! Central Park in New York looked fabulous!
