Mrsgoldy2b : We had a look at the Glenview when we were in Ireland in April - looked fab! :D Only decided against it because two of my HB2B's sisters have gotten married there and we wanted something different.

I think my ticker said the same as yours does now when I joined and look at it now!!! The time really does fly so my advice would be to book as much as you can as soon as you can. Give yourself plenty of time. The missies on here are very helpful and always great for advice. Enjoy!!

oh my goodness our day is very close to each other :-)

Hey MrsCB2b- I'm planning my wedding in Dublin from Canada too- Toronto to be exact! We're getting married Dec 30th this year and really only decided to get married in April. It's been a mad rush, but so far we're got the reception, church, photographer and my wedding dress sorted. I haven't seen the reception venue yet, but I'm headed over there in less than a week to meet the priest, see the venue (and possibly haggle for extra stuff) and spend time with the h2b's family.
I'm happy to help if you have any questions!

Hello everyone, nice to know there are others out there planning an Irish wedding from abroad. We haven't set a date yet but it will be during the end of July or beginning of August and definitely on a Thursday. Anyone else getting married on a Thursday? Benefits/Concerns? It will be in Killarney at St. Mary's Cathedral. Great to meet you all and good luck with your planning!

I got married on a Thursday, it was between Easter and may bank holidays which was great everyone took 4 days off and had 11 days out of work!! (the day before the Royal wedding)
Benefits: Kept numbers a little lower therefore keeping costs down, suppliers prices are often cheaper too and much better deals from hotels etc!
Concerns: none to be completely honest!!

We had a fab day and really loved every moment, loads came to the evening rather than the meal & ceremony and were happy to (so they could do their full day at work, and take Friday off)
I wouldn't change it to a saturday even if I had won the lotto!

Hi, I just found this site too. I'm also arranging from abroad- late July 2012. Nothing done yet but will be relying on family and friends on the ground to help! I'm a known control-freak so I suspect it'll be a rollercoaster but I do see the advantages of getting everyone else to do the actual running about ;) I won't be going home beforehand but I'm very familiar with the venue we want so fingers crossed it works out!

Welcome finnoodle and congrats! :bluewave Where are you planning from? Are you originally from Ireland (since you say you know venue well)? I hear you on being a control freak, I'm like that too but will just have to trust family in Ireland!
