Re: Overwhelmed
First off - Welcome!! Everyone on here is lovely so you're in safe hands.
As for approaching the families about having a small wedding, I think you just have to tell both sets of parents first and then word filters out through the family tree. I think they will all want what you want for your special day. They may be a bit taken aback at first but just tell them that this is really what you want. I bet they will be fine.
Maybe if you find you need to soften the blow maybe suggest that you'll have a gathering in the local pub or something a couple of weeks after ye get back from the wedding for all the aunties and uncles.
I remember when my H2B and myself were worried about telling people that we weren't getting married in a church - we had a few suprising looks but at the end of the day even my Dad was like "It's your special day so whatever ye want goes!" They were so supportive. Even when I told them that not all their brothers and sisters could come cause our venue is quite intimate! My Mom was like "Shur don't invite my family - they're all odd! I'd have a better time without them there" - So you'd be suprised how supportive the family can be!
Let me know how you get on - I really hope it all goes ok. I bet it will

Re: Overwhelmed
, you'll make great friends here!as for approaching the small destination wedding hun i would just take the bull by the horns and go in full steam ahead, its your day so do what you want. i have disappointed a lot of people by a)not having a church wedding, and b) only having a small wedding reception with immediate family and best friends then a big party at the end of the night. we are on a small budget and h2b and i decided that regardless of our budget we wanted a small intimate wedding and that was that feck what anyone else thought lol
good luck anyways chick, let us know how ya get on and happy planning x
