My friend and i have been asked to be bridesmaids for our friend. We have arranged the hen party which takes place in galway. I was just wondering does the Hen pay for herself our do we divide the cost of her's amounst all who are coming on the week. All advice would be great.

Hey, this is probably not a very helpful answer, but i think it depends on yourselves really, there's no set protocol really. Any hens i would've been on tho, including one which i was bridesmaid, the hen paid for herself in terms of hotel, activities etc, and then the cost of her meal (if you're having a meal) we split between everyone else. As bm, myself and other bm's bought any hen accessories ourselves , altho i've also been to ones where that was split between everyone there. So i think if you just split the cost of one or two things for the bride between you all that's probably plenty!

yes most hens I have been on we have split the cost of the meal.
My BM is my older sister who feels like the old aunt being invited and is not doing any of the organising. ( but she is doing my mass booklet!!!)
I do think my 2 friends organising it will do a few bits for me & the girls but the reason being one of the girls works for a company does all that sort of fun stuff.
No one knows as yet but I am organising a champage reception for my hens before dinner. couple of glasses of bubbly and a few canapes.
I dont expect any one to pay for me.
I was doing my best to keep costs as low as possible so I organised the venue and my frineds have now taken over.

In my experience the hen has never paid, now that's just my experience so I'm not saying you have to pay for the hen it's just the way myself and my friends have done things over the years. There was always a large group of us though so the extra we paid for the hen was split equally and wasn't really that much. As for my own hen I've tried to talk my bms into letting me pay for my own as times have changed but they are not having any of it. I don't know much about my hen, they took it off my hands and won't tell me anything but I did say that I don't mind what they do as long as it's cheap and cheerful, I'm not looking for fancy hotels or anything like that afterall at a hen party (again in my experience) you don't sleep all that much so a big fancy room in a fancy hotel would be wasted on me. I stayed in a hostel for a hen party before and it was great crack. It's not where you are it's who you're with!! Sorry going off point.....I think if you have large group then maybe the hen doesn't pay because the extra cost wouldn't be that much divided however if you have small hen party well then maybe it's a different story and would be unfair for people to pay for the hen, particularly if it's an expensive hen.

I've never gone on a hen and been asked for money to pay for the hen.For my own,i'll definitely be paying my own way,it's hard times for everone and i'd rather my friends keep their money to spend on themselves.

any of the ones i have been too all costs for the hen were divided btween everyone as we felt it was our time to spoil the hen! i no for my own hen(whish is s total suprise) the girls have broke up costs again, but i think the hotel give some parts of the package free for the hen...i will be offering to pay my costs, but my experience has been that hen was paid for by her friends!

When I organised my sister's hen, myself and the other BMs divided the cost between us. I know that others divide it between the group without necessarily telling them. To be honest I can't imagine anyone going on a hen would be annoyed if asked to contribute towards the cost of the hen, they're your closest friends! I've offered to pay for all the booze on the Fri night in of my hen!! Can't wait

I have paid for myself for my hen which is this weekend - can't believe it!!! My bridesmaids had said they would divide it out and everyone would contribute for me but I think (and its just my opinion) thats its very unfair!! I think my hens (and the stags) have enough expense already with being so good as to come with us for the weekend, come to my wedding, buy outfits, accommodation etc that it is not right in them paying for me - for something taht I want to do and have invited people to!! Thats just what I think but I have then again paid for some brides to be at other hens I have attended!!!

On any hen I have been on we have always paid for the Bride between all of the girls on the hen. It would usually only be less than €10 each to include accommodation, meal, taxi's, activities etc. Then with regards drinks, we would always make sure that the Bride is never with out a drink in her hand all night, we would take it in turns getting her a drink or doing a kitty for her drinks.
