Questions when choosing a photographer?

Postby AnCiotog » Mon Jan 16, 2012 4:47 pm

H2B and I are going to see our preferred photographer tonight and hoping to book him. But before we do are there questions we should be asking him? I know I'd like him to take particular shots on the day, which I'll make out in advance, as well as having thank you cards made up from one our wedding pictures afterwards. But is there anything else I should be asking?

i am making a list for my guy to give him a few weeks in advnace, example, who i really need in photo's (apart from the bridal party) ie: my only uncle, my son etc etc. also ask him to make sure no one has a fag in their hand!!!! hate that. small things like, how long does he spend with the bride before they leave, does he have a route from church to venue (or do you) that you may want to stop. what does he do if it's raining? make sure there isnt any hidden costs, for example is his price ALL INCLUDED. finding out two weeks after the wedding he charges an extra 100 euro to put on dvd or whatever. it's your day, you tell him what and who you would like in your photo's, if he is making a dvd of them, how many songs does he need from you (background music) the guy im dealing with is great, ask lots of questions, look at his work, make notes of particular shots you liked, add them to your list. so he knows and you know what he can do for you on the day xx

I'm just back from meeting him now. We've booked him, we both loved his work and I really wanted some black and white shots which he does anyway. He has great ideas on the places to get good photos on the way to the venue, and has built in about four different places to get some really good shots. Apparently he takes up to 1000 pics on the day and gives 300 to us that we can choose from. We get all of them on dvd as well as high and low res versions so I'm very happy with him. We got a list of ideas on what he tends to take on the day and he has lots of quirky shots as well. :clapper
