Bridal party at civil wedding

Postby gospelfan » Sat Dec 10, 2011 12:58 am

Hey everyone,

First of all congratulations to everyone on your engagements! I'm only a newbie on this forum, getting married (finally!) in July next year after being engaged 4 years. We are having a civil ceremony at our wedding venue so we won't have any bridesmaids, groomsmen etc just a witness each. I'm just wondering who we should have in our 'bridal party' mainly for deciding who to have at the top table at dinner. Also, my mum will be the only parent attending so at the moment we only have 3 people with us at the top table. Is anyone else in a similar situation and what are you doing in this case?
Thanks for any advice!

Just wanted to say welcome to the site :bluewave
Could you have your two witnesses at the top table with you? Or you could just have a table with the two of you, and then your mum with family? i have heard of couples just having themselves at a table, I think there is a thread on this site about it.

I'm having a civil ceremony too but still decided to have one BM and one Best man, and a flowergirl and pageboy. So at the top table we have both parents and the BM and Best man.

i was bridesmaid for my friend recently, she had a beautiful civil ceremony with 3 bridesmaids and 3 groomsmen :) each to their own hun. another option might be to have any brothers or sisters at the top table with u if its looking a bit bare
