Civil Partnership (such a mouthful my wedding)

Postby susieqw » Thu Jan 19, 2012 12:05 am

Hi ladies/ :D mrstobe, I am having a civil partnership in Kilkenny this year, we picked the River Court just wondering does anyone have any experience of civil partnership here my wife to be is worried if they have never hosted one! Also any recommends for bands in Kilkenny I am a little out of the loop as I don't really go out in Kilkenny much! Any other recommendations would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Sorry I cant help regarding Kilkenny or band but just wanted to say tell your b2b who cares if it is the first one they have hosted! I am sure they are professionals and will do everything as requested by the happy couple! If it is the first one it might be a bit of a novelty for some staff etc but I don't think it should effect the quality of service you receive! If in doubt...just ask the hotel! Anyway hope somebody can help you and welcome to the site!

I paid my deposit the other day and asked about whether we were the first civil partnership and turns out we will be, also the photographer I am looking at hasn't done a civil partnership either! Niche market there somewhere I think! Anyone getting CP this year?

Hi
We're also being civilly partnered this year ,5th Dec to be precise. And i too prefer to just say married. We're local to Kilkenny and Ive been to my cousins wedding in the River Court and it was fab.Really loved it .The whole reception went beautifully and according to my cousin they were very easy to deal with. We're going to New York for our wedding.Reason being is that we both ,very much, like low-key.We're loving all the planning: we started dress shopping in Feb and id always dreamed of having my dress made and thats what im doing and the designer is Kathy de Stafford in Dublin. My fiance had found her dress on the de Stafford website and its by Lusan Mandongus,2 tone with mocha chiffon skirt and hand beaded bodice.its fab.We hired a planner as twas proving very difficult to communicate with the states due to time difference and our work schedules. Thus far it seems like it was a great idea to have a planner. We've booked our hotel and next thing will be flights.
So have ye been dress shopping? What stage are ye at?Have ye been ring shopping ,i change my mind about what id like about 3 times a day.lol.
Just curious but do ye intend to change yer surnames? We're deliberating over this at the moment.

Congrats on the engagements!! :) I don't know much about entertainment in Kilkenny but we were looking at bands etc from Dublin and a lot were reasonably priced and didn't have a travel cost so maybe be open minded about looking outside Kilkenny if you don't find something you like!!
I can't wait to do the dress shopping part but BM's are taking up a lot of time! 4 = nightmare!!
H2B and I are looking into getting fingerprint rings, don't know if you would have considered it but I think it will be romantic and we'll have a part of each other all the time!!
Hope all the planning goes well and all suppliers etc don't make an issue of civil partnership! Ireland needs to get with the times!! Happy Planning!! :) x

Congrats on your upcoming wedding/cp. We're planning ours at the moment too. We haven't anywhere booked yet, but have narrowed it down to a couple of venues. Tell you wife to be that she shouldn't worry if the hotel has never catered for a cp before, if they've done weddings, then they can definitely do your wedding!

We've done a lot of shopping online, even found my dress and my wife to be's suit, along with all our Bridesmaids dresses.

I got my band through a music agency. PM me if you want the details.

PM if you've any questions or need help!
