Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone else is planning a civil wedding? would like some ideas.. have you found any sample vows for irish civil weddings? Any advise on finding a solemniser, other than going through the list on the GRO website?! thanks x

Hiya... and welcome to the site! H2B and I are having a civil ceremony. Are you looking for info on how to word the ceremony, or on vows specifically? We'll be writing our own vows, but we have a general idea of how the ceremony will run. What kind of solemniser are you looking for?

hi!

just for starters i was wondering what the "official" vows are.. what you "have" to say.. i suppose depending on the solemniser you can add your own. can only find UK ones online. Dont know really, nothing religious, i have heard a humanist ceremony is lovely. this is the best description i've found so far on the format, is this what you were thinking? http://www.mrs2be.ie/wedding-articles/the-ceremony/having-a-civil-wedding-ceremony-in-ireland.html we are open to ideas on venues (except HSE offices lol!)

As far as I know (and according to the GRO website) the 2 required statements are along the lines of:

- I know of no reason why I may not be joined in matrimony...
- That I (so and so) take you (h2b) as my husband...

Have you heard of Dara Molloy? We're having him as our officiant and he's absolutely brilliant. He's incredibly flexible so you can be as religious or (more likely) as humanist as you like. Only problem is you'll still have to have a GRO officer there to do the legal bits, but that's not a big deal, really.

Hope that helps!
