A song for walking down and up the aisle???
We're going to see the priest next week to finalise mass booklets, readings we picked etc.
I was hoping that we could have anything we wanted for songs walking up and down the aisle, I wanted At Last by Etta James, BUT the priest has said no, it HAS to have religious content as once you enter the church the mass has begun. Now Im stuck, what can I have??? I have a singer and guitar player so any classical pieces like Cannon are out.
Any ideas???

I wonder if he'd accept the Leonard Cohen Hallelujah song - covered by Jeff Buckley and Alexandra Burke? That would work well with just a singer and a guitar. So would Beyonce's version of Ave Maria. Gorgeous and definitely religious: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgxfthPHTwc

Mrshealy2b - As a church singer the problem of non religous songs and their relevance throughout the wedding ceremony is an issue that comes up from time to time. Generally up to and including communion is considered the religous part of the ceremony, the signing of the register is considered the civil part of the ceremony. Your priest may consider a more "spiritual song" for the recessional piece, and there are some lovely songs to choose from. For something diffferent have a listen to Matthew Baute's "One" - it is lovely, another song to listen to is " This is the day" - the wedding song written by Scott Wesley Brown. The traditional songs like Oh Happy day, or
This Little Light of Mine would work well with guitar and voice.

How about 'A Mhuire Mhathair'? The chord progression would be handy enough on a guitar.

Oh lovely. I've heard it played on guitar before and it's gorgeous. Good choice.
