Cuba on Honeymoon?
Hey There,
Having the worst time trying to decide where to go on honeymoon, its now down to Cuba for 10 days broken into 3 days in Havana (The capital) & 7 days in Varadero (Beach) or else 7 days in St Lucia or Dominican Republic & then 4 days in London. Our original place was Cuba but iv had doubts and now thinking the 2nd option however i know H2B would love to go to Cuba well i actually think he likes the idea of him going to Cuba more than he wants to go!!! Don't know what to do don't want him to never be able to go to Cuba but don't wanna have a horrible honeymoon either....hmmmm??

Re: Cuba on Honeymoon?
Hi there !
we've just booked our Honeymoon in Cuba, 4 days in havana, 4 days in Trinidad & 4 days in Caya Coco. then 5 days in Orlando on the way home.
I cant wait !!
the price has been very reasonable and well within our Budget. I have only heard great things about Cuba, with the History, Culture, Music and beaches are amazing.
What make you think that it wont be good !
But sure no matter where you go it will be time spent alone with the new Hubby - so it will natuarally be good anyway !!

Re: Cuba on Honeymoon?
Dunno why i just keep reading negative comments and i know there are way more positive but the negative stick in my head. Not being able to use BOI credit card freaks me out aswell and i hear of a load of ppl getting food poisining!!??? I know the hotels there are not as luxorious as other places and i want that and i don't at the same time!! Can i ask where or who did u book with? Your trip sounds fab or did u just book it yourself??

Re: Cuba on Honeymoon?
We had looked at Cuba but with what we had planned for rest of honeymoon it wouldn't work because of the flights between Cuba and USA so we went with St Lucia in the end. Stayed in a 5 star resort and 3 couple we met had all got food poisioning from the resort food. So dont let that put you off Cuba. Its next on my list of places to visit, it looks incredible and have heard only nice stories about the people there.

Hi! I've been to Cuba (cayo coco) and it was gorgeous! Perfect white sand, turquoise water and really nice people. I did not get food poisoning and no one I was there with got sick either. Hope that helps your decision-making hun!

Re: Cuba on Honeymoon?
Cuba, an absolutely super place to holiday. Personally I would stay away from Varadero, it is v touristy and I don't think you get a true feel for Cuba.
Havana is fab, have been here 3 times and you can pick my brains for different recommendations for bars, hotels etc.
Trinidad is super, lovely local vibe and a "true" Cuban feel.
Either Cayo Coco or Cayo Largo are stunning and personally I find them much nicer than Varadero.
If you really want to get away from it all Maria la Gorda is lovely but very remote and tbh the food in the resort isn't too hectic. Most hotels are State run so the quality of food and service is quite basic in comparison to what you will find if you stay in Casa particulares (homestays) Don't be put off by the idea of Homestays. It is really just like a B&B, fab food, lovely drinks etc. You see as much of the family as you wish really!
If I can be of any help don't hesistate to send me a message

Re: Cuba on Honeymoon?
Hi there! We are also thinking if Cuba, well to be honest we've our heart set on it. We are getting married the end of Aug 2013 so would be going on honeymoon to Cuba in sept. A lot if travel agents keep warning us of the rain at that time of year, any advice on what it's actually like in sept or should we wait until nov/dec maybe and just have a little break in Ireland straight after the wedding? All advice appreciated:)

Re: Cuba on Honeymoon?
It depends what area you are planning on travelling to? Baracoa is quite tropical and green so would see a lot more rain than Vinales! August/September is giving you a much higher risk of rain! Now rain in Cuba tends to be a downpour and then sunshine but they can be much more prolonged downpours at that time of year!
If you have the option to travel a few months later then I would suggest holding off until late October! Weather will be hot but manageable!
How long are you planning on going for?
Just let me knowif you want any further info!

Re: Cuba on Honeymoon?
Thanks so much for your reply soon2bMrsCC, I think we might end up deciding to go that little bit later and get the better weather! We're thinking if going for 10 days to 2 weeks so hopefully we'll get to see plenty. We'll prob go to Havana and then beaches, your suggestions above are great I'll have to get researching them:) exciting times!

Re: Cuba on Honeymoon?
We had planned on Cuba, but as friends of ours have had babies we haven't met yet we decided on a week in Zykinthos and three weeks in Chicago with the friends instead. Hope to get to Cuba in the not too distant future though. Good luck with your decision!
