Im so bad to haggle especially if i want something. How much leeway do hotels offer with packages?? We are having 200, possibly plus . :? and as for bands ive seen a huge price variance so far. Any good bands that ye know of in Munster area?

Since the recession most Hotels will pretty much come down in price and give you something but you have to ask. The way I see it is that if you don't ask then you don't get. What's the harm in asking all they will do is say no and at least you tried but don't try just once ask a few times be nice, ask again and if they don't they don't, maybe move onto the next hotel. We got our hotel to come down a good bit in price and no corkage at all as we are bringing in our own wine. They also charged no corkage on the champagne reception (H2B is a wine wholesaler so we're lucky that way). Considering you're having 200 plus the hotel should definitely come down in price. Don't forget to ask them to throw in a few rooms for guests, if it's already in the package ask them to throw in a few more rooms. Seriously ask for everything the worst they will do is say no. As for bands don't restrict yourself to the Muster area as most if not all bands will travel. Any bands we asked didn't ask where we were having the reception just quoted us a price. We've booked the band Springbreak. They are a brilliant 80's band and well worth it. Good luck with the haggling and remember stand your ground, the hotel and band want your business as much as you want them!

Im crap at haggling, so i worte up an email, stating the number of guests and said the majority would need rooms(all 60 rooms were booked by our wedding in the end)
I listed what i wanted included, rigth from the arrival to the evening buffet, including wine with the meal.
i put our budget is x amount (having done out the price pp i was willing to pay)

we got it for this price which was 25pp less than the brochure. so much easier to be a haggler via email!!!!

when we went to our hotel to book it we took the package that a rival hotel were offering and used that to start.. I said it was between the 2 hotel but at the end of the day it came down to price.. Using that i got a fairylight backdrop free and €2 off corkage and evening supper. so we booked it.. They wouldnt reduce corkage any more so i asked them to do a round of champagne for toasts free (which they did). We also got a choice of main course for 50c and a free choice in deserts.. They also gave 2 extra free rooms..That was all after the deposit was paid.. You have to chance your arm - all they can say is no..

Great deal for you Ravenrabbit :cool :cool
