Vintage or Vintage Look dresses

Postby Kate_087 » Thu Aug 11, 2011 1:31 pm

Hi Girls, I'm getting married in Feb next year and have just started dress shopping. I love my fashion and I actually can't believe how samey all the dresses are in most shops. I'd love something that's a bit different, possibly vintage or vintage stylebut definitly something a bit more unique but not wacky. Has anyone any suggestions pls? xx

I'm going 50's vintage. The dress is called Bardot and it's by Stephaine Allin and I love love love it and never thought I'd go for something like it. I'm going for the one with the colour in the belt and mocha flower but you can get it in different styles. If you google it you'll see. She does a few other vintage style dresses. Good luck with your search.

There are a couple of shops in Dublin that specialise in vintage - Vintage Bride and Dirty Fabulous are two you might check out (Google them - I'm not sure where they are exactly). Also second hand places like Barnardos (dun laoghare) and Oxfam (George's st city centre) because you never know what you might find there and some of the dresses in both shops are new as well.

Although you might be better off thinking about what you want and having it designed and made for you - depending on your budget it might not be as expensive as you think - or as expensive as other designer wedding gowns!

Ooh I have seen Stephanie Allin Bardot - BEAUTIFUL dress, good choice!

I have been to Dirty Fabulous, it's a real treasure trove. On their website they list the time of the year they're closed for buying trips. My advice is to go in before the trip and let them know what you have in mind, so they can keep an eye out for your perfect dress when they're on their trip. Personal shopper eat your heart out!

Memories Bridal Boutique have a shop here in Cork and are opening in Dublin in October as far as I know. They have more unusual but beautiful dresses. You can find them on facebook, definately worth a look if you want a dress thats not samey
