You have SO much organised buddingbride2b!!! Well done! Making me think I should get a move on;) I'm 7th Dec 2013... This may be a silly question but is dress shopping seasonal? Ie winter wedding dresses are better to buy in Winter? I'm thinking the January sales could be my best bet...

It can be very confusing but what I "think" they have been saying is that they get their new 'stock' in in September and the prob then if you wanted to wait till closer nxt year, is they say you should get your dress 6 months before for them to have time to get it made etc, so buying now or in Jan would be grand, I duno about 'seasonal' dresses but I know I was looking at a particular style and they said it might be discontinued in a month or so when the new lines came in for nxt year and that they all seemed to be veering towards a different style,...i.e lace etc

food for thought : )

I went today again and now I have a dilemna I like two dresses...they are in different shops ...far apart...therefore I couldnt try one on then the other straight away and they are complete opposites aaarrrrggggg

the big things are, especially if its near christmas, watch out for suppliers and there availablility dates...
so church, venue, band and photographer were the big things we did...it can take about 6 months for dress to come in, take your time choosing one, you've loads of time yet, i only got BM dress in July this year, though didnt go with BM shop (can take 2/3 months from there) shop around, get pricing now and see if they can beat it in a few weeks, look on the web- ebay and here are you friends... enjoy all the planning, its always said but the time really will fly by

Hi Misteltoe12 ...good tip about the suppliers, especially bands...I read it somewhere on here bfore also and remember thinking wow that seems so obvious but I hadnt even considered it!!!...given that at christmas you have so many office parties etc they can get booked up......anyone that hasnt looked yet...I was in contact with quite a few around here and they were still free for Dec2013 so no panic stations needed just yet, but that is why I wanted to get a band sorted sooner rather than later. Still deliberating about the one we saw the last night, they were v good Im just not sure if we should reserve judgement till we have seen at least one other band???

My head is now completely fried with dresses...I think I need to stop looking :dizzy can you believe I was pretty much 100% about my dress till I decided to have 'one last look' yesterday...I cant fiqure out if I really like this new dress or its a panic buy situation - the shop had it in for that weekend only and its been sent back today - if I want to try it on again Id supposedly have to buy it :verymad Iv looked on the web and another shop is going to try to get it in for me to try on again so that has calmed me a bit....polar opposites wouldnt descibe the difference in my two dresses enough...how can you love two different bloody styles of dress ??? I wish I wasnt so awkward lol

Hi all, newly engaged and we have decided to go with the 31st December.....can't believe how organised everyone is and I think I've just had a bit of a lightning rod moment!
Re dresses....the styles available are overwhelming and is there a typical winter style dress? Also what is best advised over the dress.....a Bolero or white wedding coat??? Thanks

Id like to know this also.... not sure about styles...the ladies in the shop just say go for what you like regardless??

Just my opinion but I always think wearing something over the dress like a wrap etc, takes away from the dress? then again it will be very cold without anything...not sure what to do!!!

i remember going dress shopping was dreading it, really was...but you just need to take your time, only do 1/2 shops on a day, try and get pics, there was 2 dresses i was looking at, i ended up picking one that i didnt even want to try on, it was the more unusual one i went for, but each to their own...take your time on it, and do shop around, in ireland alone, the place i found my dress was 1700, i got it for 1300, big differece, had looked at from the US but with all the hastle and expense getting it over, was only saving 200, got mine up north..and remember to relax, you'll get there, enjoy the time cause it will fly by, and if there's one or two dress, then leave it for a few weeks, and go back to it again with a clear head..enjoy all
on the certs, you need the cert 6 months before you get married, we did the pre-marriage course and the registering with the state, did the two of them within the 6 month mark, (registering with the state has to be within the 6 mnths) got them done on the 1 week
