€380 just for make up?

Postby mrswtobe » Wed Jan 25, 2012 11:46 pm

Long story but I've had to just start looking for a new make up artist. The artist is top class but even so €380 for 6 people without a trial just for make up seems steep. Need your help ladies how much are you paying and who are you getting? I'm starting to panic now. I want to look great but it'll be nearly 700 euro for hair and make up!!

I'm so fed up of these crazy prices.

€100 for four is very cheap, I'm getting 3 of us done for €150, €50 trial for me. I was quoted €350 for 3 people by someone else, they vary so much.

I'm with you mrswtobe, I don't want to pay that amount either. I've just been looking around for make-up artists on the web tonight, was going to e-mail a few for quotes. I'm getting married in North Wicklow and need makeup for myself & 2 bridesmaids. Mollybird looks like you are onto a winner, is your make-up artist based in Waterford, does she travel do you know ?

Yeah, the prices do vary a lot, mine is 300 euro for 4 of us, and then 50 for the trial which is i know is def on the expensive side, but the girl is brilliant and comes to the house. I got my dress for half price and my veil for ten euro on e bay tho so i'm justifying it that way!!

jackyl, not sure if she travels. she owns her own beautician at home. i don't get why some of the missies are looking on the net. if your outside dublin anyone you should look about going into any ordinary beautician place i'm sure they do it a reasonable prices. then again i'm not pushed about make up at all. don't know much about it myself.

Thanks for the replies, I suppose the difference is that a make-up artist is highly trained in make up while a beautician may not be. I got a make up artist for 300 euro so I'm happy with that. She has worked for Lancome, MAC and Armani. I suppose ill make the difference up elsewhere, I don't want to regret not getting someone fab on the day as I am very fussy with make up and all the beauticians I have tried never did a good job it was always too much.

I'd be the same mrswtobe, that's why i paid a bit more as well, i'd be really fussy about make up, and hate when they over do it! I have very dark eyes, and find 99% of them go bloody crazy with eyeliner to make the eyes stand out, and it's waaaay too much! And i'm happy to leave out favours and that stuff to make it up! I wonder actually if you have same person as me, she's trained in MAC and is the same price!

Wifeychops, i'd say it depends who you want. The girl i got can be booked up a year ahead of time, but i think plenty of them are available with 6 months or less to go, so i'd say you're ok for a bit! Sorry, not too sure about sligo/roscommon, but i can pm you details of the girl i got if you want as i'm fairly sure she'll go wherever in the country
