Anyone else not living together yet?
Anyone else not living together yet?
I'm curious to know if I am the only missie not yet living with H2B. Just occurred to me that it must be a bit unusual these days. Though in the rural area we are moving to its probably still the norm not to live together until married or at least engaged. Its around 20 years behind rest of country though!
Its not a moral thing, we have just been living in different parts of the country. We are in the process of buying a house and will be moving in before the wedding, hopefully before Christmas. MIL would prefer we waited until we are married I am sure, but is wise enough not to say so!

Re: Anyone else not living together yet?
I know people who are married now and have never lived together (they worked in different counties-so had completely different lives) until they also relocated, and , even though they have been married for a couple of years it's almost like they have only been going out for a few months.
there are pros and cons about living together/not living together prior to marriage. one of the pros is that you learn about your partner, and work on your marriage on a daily basis. one of the cons is that you have to learn all of the bad habits that your partner may have.
there was a post recently on here (well a few months ago) from a newly married woman, who was so hurt and upset because she felt like she was being treated like a slave by her husband,....the problem was that her husband had previously been living with " The Mammy" had was used to being mollycoddled. The advice given was just to sit down and talk and realise why you love the person, but also to set in place some rules and boundaries....sharing housework and all that.
It will be great fun for you when you do get married, because you will find out all the little intricacies that make up your married life togetgher. best of luck for you for the future......Sorry for the rather long reply (It's quite late here and we were out celebrating the Ireland result!!!)

As we spend all our weekends together I don't think it will be too much of a shock to be living together. Though the fact he works from home and I wont have a job in the place we are moving to could add complications. I think I will have to make extra efforts to get out and about with other people so we don't get sick of each other.

I totally understand your situation- I live in Canada and h2b lives in the UK at the moment. I get to see him for a week when we both fly over to Dublin for the wedding and then I probably won't see him again until mid-Feb when he will be officially immigrating to Canada! can't wait for it!
