Between ceremony and dinner

Postby taz30 » Wed Oct 19, 2011 3:12 pm

Hi ladies. I am having my civil ceremony at 2pm because its in winter and the photographer recommended to have it at this time so we can get outdoor photos. My problem is that we are not been called for dinner until 5.30pm. Do you think its a very long gap for people?? We are having canapes and prosecco for th reception but has anyone any ideas that we could do so that p0eople are not too bored or too drunk for that length of time before the meal??? Or am I thinking to much and people will be fine???

You are thinking too much. Two and a half hours will fly. People will enjoy catching up and having a good chat.

:iagree Hun that's the average timing for alot of weddings, my own (church) was 2pm and dinner to be called at 5.30pm (I haven't a clue what time it was actually called for), but that's a fine timeline, alot of weddings I have been to people stop off en-route to the hotel for a drink, or actually in fairness at a wedding it's one of favourite parts of the day, I love just chilling in the bar with a drink and chatting to people, the time flies by!! In my opinion you can be over entertained at a wedding too, sometimes it's nice to have nothing going on and you just get to chill :chillpill with a drink :knockback

:iagree i wouldnt worry bout it,the guests will be fine.im having a church wedding at 1pm in january and out meal wont be unitl 5.30 either. with only a 5min drive from the church to the hotel there is no big drive to waste the time so my guests wil be waiting as long as yours. i tink the vast majority of people attending a wedding in ireland, regardless of the type of cermony, expect a bit of a wait. they will just mingle with the other guests and you should just enjoy your first few hrs as a :justarried2 and dont worry about them!

Thanks girls, I was hoping you would all say that!!! Its just that a few people mentioned it but I didnt want to even think about changing the ceremony time cause its OUR big day adn I want it to last for as long as possible and I also want to have the chance for myself and H2B to mingle with the guests after getting a few photos taken as well! I love the reception part of a wedding and don't want it to be too short either so that by the time we have our photos done, dinner is called and we have missed it all!! I love this forum!!!!!!!

We are having a 1.30pm wedding, so should be be in the hotel between 3 and 3.30pm. Dinner is not til 6pm. They will be called at 5.45pm. So there will be a 2.75 or 2.5 hour wait between both. But there's snacks and champagne and the bar, and lots of family and friends, so I am not worried about it being so long.

I agree when people say it's the best part of the day!

Our ceremony is at 1.30, dinner wont be until 5.30-6ish. Not worrying about it at all because the Hotel is providing tea/coffee/scones/strawberries and people will be talking and catching up so the time will fly :)
