Childrens activity bags/boxes

Postby mrskehoe2be » Wed Nov 02, 2011 10:47 am

Need some help girls.....
Have 6 children coming to wedding all h2b's nieces and nephews... was thinking of having activity boxes or books to keep them occupied during the meal but more importantly during the speeches!!! Just not too sure what to put into them???
Children range from ages 1 to 6, and dont want this to cost a fortune either...
Any advice??

I got personalised boxes on ebay, they are gorgeous and very cheap. I am going to get a couple of small things for them to play with and a dvd as the hotel said that we could put it on for the children in an ajoining room incase they get bored. We are only having 4 children (bridal party) and they wont be stayingg very long but thought it would be nice for them to be entertained while they are there....

My friend got married a year ago and she asked the hotel if they would make a little corner in the room for the kids so during the speeches and when the kids were bored. She had coloring books and the hotel provided a small telly and dvd player and she had a kids dvd on for them to watch and i think it worked very well.

We only had 2 kids at our wedding, our daughter and nephew, one both around 6 years old, I got bags in the €2 euro shop, you get lovely ones in there, Disney Princess/Disney Cars/Mickey & Minnie Mouse, they are reusable plastic ones, real pretty. As there were only 2 kids they both got a good toy each but I put in colours, colouring book, yo-yo's and bits and bobs like that, but to be honest the thing I found they got most kick out of was the fun cameras, they had a ball snapping at everyone, you get them in the €2 shop too, now if you get these then simply use them as entertainment on the day and if their parents want to develop them let them off, if the room is in any way dark them the pics don't turn out, but it was the best €2 I ever spent so I would definitely recommend these. Also depending on the kids ages a little purse/wallet with a few coins in it, both our kids got a great kick out of being able to buy bits and bobs themselves - a drink at the bar, pringles from the machine, crap but they loved it and entertained themselves for hours!!!

Remember if you have a group of kids they entertain themselves, I find colours etc just don't get used as they are hyper playing together, you could buy cheap ones or you could get the hotel to hold off on the kids ice-cream until the speeches start, that will keep them quiet. I would buy more to entertain them for a few hours not just for the speeches, they never last long and in fairness that's what their parents are there for - to control them, so don't spend a fortune on stuff they will be too excited to use, excited kids don't sit down and colour, in my experience :)
