Sometimes your dioesce website might give guidance on the typical donation. But it very much depends on your own money situation. I was told you should give the priest the equivalent to a days wages for yourself. not sure about church donations, we were told 500. Some other places are 100. All depends, if possible talk to another bride who got married there.

hey hun,
Our church are expecting €400 !! UPFRONT... Im sick thinking about it and that does not include paying the priest!! Think the norm is €150-200 for the priest and something similar for a church donation. .hope that helps...

Ours is 400 too, thats for the use of the church (its not our parish church)

The priest never mentioned a "donation" but 150 - 200 seems to be the going rate

We are getting married in our local cathedral. It is not technically in my parish, as I live about 200 metres outside the parish lines. However, I have never been to my own parish church and I was confirmed and I was an altar server at the cathedral for 3 years. Therefore, there is no way that I am going to pay the €250 "donation" that the church asks for if you do not live in the parish! So I was just planning on paying the priest and a small bit to the sacristan. Is that wrong? Do I still have to give money to the church?! :crazy

i haven't heard anything YET about a church donation, it's my parish so I would be a bit peed off if I had to pay for it! I do intend on slipping the priest €300 - he married my sister and that is what she gave him so I kinda have to do the same. Then again she had him up for dinner as well before the wedding a few times and they went to mass every Sunday coming up to it - that I will not be doing !!!!!!!
