hi rossie girl
i was at a wedding 2 years ago and it was fine,
personally i was not really in love with the function room but apart from that.
the food was ok jst by the time seconds came out the plate had already been cleaned so a little disappointed that they took so long to come around withe seconds.
you looked at any other hotels?

I haven't personally been to a wedding there but i've heard stories. I'm inclined to believe Trees here! ;) It is a nice hotel, I'm staying there for my hen, but as far as weddings are concerned, i'm told they're a bit pricey for what you're given. Best thing you can do is ring them and ask for a wedding brochure, then visit the hotel yourself. Reccomendations are great, but what one person hates, you might love!! :D

Thanks both of ye. Have got a wedding brouchue off them and the price seems in line with other hotels. €59 per head, drinks reception, chair covers, meal, wine tro meal, etc. Requested brouche off sligo park but they have sent one so that has me put off there. Wher ye having your weddings? :bluewave

Ah €59 per head seems about average to me, that's not overly bad, especially with chair covers and wine included. ;) If you really like them I still say you should haggle a bit because you could end up getting a lot more for your money! :D My reception is just a small close family and friends thing in Yeats County Inn, I think Trees is having her reception in the Landmark in Carrick on Shannon, if I remember rightly... :D

Kilronan Castle- well if you are considering the Landmark, it's even closer to Sligo. Was at a wedding there and it was fab!!!! I don't think Mackree Castle cater for that size! How are you finding planning a big wedding?? Kilronan has a sister hotel called Lough Rynn too-it may be closer (i'm not sure!)

Oh, Markree Castle is fab! :smitten Same as though, not sure if they'd take that many people, worth a look though because you pay them a venue hire fee and get the whole castle to yourselves for the night, that means all the rooms aswell for your guests! That was one of the places we checked out for our wedding, but we couldn't afford it... it's my dream venue that place... :(

Markree Castle is fab but they def don't cater for big weddings - my sister had to cut her guest list right down

If I was getting married in Sligo I think I would go for the Sligo Park - have been to loads of great weddings there.

Decided to get married in Carlow where I live instead

I haven't been to a wedding in the Clarion but my brother went to a conference there and I think he liked it - I must ask him more

Hi Rossiegirl,

I dont know if I am too late to post on your post but I just spotted it and thought that I would give it a go, I am getting married in Dromahaire which is only 20 minutes from sligo so my closest hotels is mainly sligo. I was looking for prices and packages from different hotels and having been to a few weddings, I can say that the sligo park is a good venue, staff are nice and food was good, We were at a wedding in great southern and it wasnt great, As for the clarion, I contacted them and the wedding co-ordinator as far I am concerned was a disaster, she didnt return my calls, I wanted to have a look around and she made a provisional appointment which she said that she would confirm which she didnt so we didnt go and she rang me on the day which we had provisionally made the appointment for about an hour after which we would have been there and was all sorry for not confirming and she had not made a proper note of it, so if thats what she is like for a meeting I wouldnt like her to be in charge of my wedding.
I am going with Castle Dargon which is just outside sligo, but we are having about 150, I am not sure what their max is. I have heard mixed reports about markree castle and kilronan castle, Cromleach lodge is nice, out in middle of no where and bit pricy but again not sure wat max they can cater for. would you thing about bundoran? I think that the great northern can cater for that size of wedding.

Hope this helps, good luck with it all

From one Rossie to another, I was in carrick-on-shannon there last wednesday and just on the off chance called in to the Landmark to get a brochure. the wedding co-ordinator Patricia came out to meet up and went through everything with us. She was brilliant. brought us in to the ballroom and showed us what the lighting would be liike throughtout the night and about band set up. they have a private bar for the wedding guests and this is closed during the meal to keep all your guests in the ballroom but opens up while the band are setting up. it closes again as the danceing starts and its your private residence bar at the end of the night. the one good thing about this is that its a cash til.... I was at a wedding in kilronan castle and you have to charge all drinks in the residents bar to a room number. it didn't help that everyone kept putting it on the bride and grooms room number.....!!!! be very careful with that kind of thing
