Cupcake Stand - HELP!

Postby digitalleigh » Thu Dec 01, 2011 4:30 pm

Is it just me, or is it very hard to find a nice cupcake stand in Ireland and the UK? All the bakeries supply rather gaudy looking plastic or clear glass stands, which is so not my style.

Anyone know where we can buy or hire a stand like this?

Looking for a 4 or 5 tier, preferably wood or sturdy material, option to add ribbon to edges, will hold approximately 100 -150 cupcakes. At least 10" top tier so I can add a small cake on that tier.

I appreciate any help I can get ladies! :)

You won't get one with a 10 inch top tier, top tier cakes are normally about 5-7 inches round, 8 at the most, but an 8inch top tier cake looks huge with a topper or something on it, the 6 inch round would be the norm. I have a lovely mirrored cupcake stand, 7 tiers, holds about 120 cupcakes with all the tiers but as a top tier cake normally takes the second highest tier I usually get about 90 cupcakes on the other 3 or 4 tiers below it. If a stand had a 10 inch top tier the bottom tier to hold 150 cupcakes would be ridiculously large, as in a couple of feet across or most likely more, I have never come across one and if you did it would be very expensive, most 7 tiers to hold 120 like I have are €100ish. Try wedding acrylics.co.uk, they have a good selection.

Or just buy a selection of graduating cake boards, and a few cake dummies and make your own stand, you could get a bottom board of about 24 inches or bigger maybe.

Thank you for your message! I actually meant to write 8" top tier. The cake itself will be a 6" cake, but I want a little room around the cake & not have it fill up the whole tier. I'm not too excited about the cake part, it's only there for the cake toppers! haha

Thanks for the tip, wedding acrylics is actually great! They have many options.

I always put a 6 inch cake on a 6 inch tier, it looks well and means you can use the larger tier to put more cupcakes on below. The 6 inch is such a small cake that it doesn't need much room on the tier, looks fine without.

I'm sure it does, but there's a specific look I'm going for. I'll settle if I have to of course, but if I can find a 8" tier I'll be a very happy girl!
