We're not having any extra entertainment, just the band and DJ for us i'm afraid. But I think if it's within your budget it's great to do something a bit different and break away from the norm. The caricatures are a fab idea, it would be so funny to see what is drawn for some people! ;) And like you said, it'll get people chatting and give them all a bit of a laugh! I like the idea of the singing waiters if anybody's having them too!

we are having them instead of a band and a dj later thats a friend of ours its just something we can all get together and have a laugh with before we get totally plasterd as we are having a small gathering of family at the reception it would be nice just to talk and stuff for a while after the meal the rest of the guests then come later for the dj and buffet are meal is quite early 5.30pm

We haven't organised anything extra just yet - it'll probably depend on money nearer the time.
I was at a wedding a couple of years ago that had a casino! It was absolutely brilliant. It was all set up ready to go after the meal, so as soon as we all got up from the meal we went straight to the blackjack and roulette tables, and had great fun until the band were ready to begin. Everyone stayed in the room and there was such a great atmosphere. It was all fun money, so very light hearted, but that didn't stop the competition!

newbie that sounds like a great idea - but its kinda wierd that way our wedding is we're having the meal in one room and the band and dj in an other so we decided not to get any as there wont be much time between meal and party - its weair but the meal with the meal wont be a great room to have the afters in so it's easier to just move.

its so great to hear from someone that this was a big hit at a wedding coz this is what we're doing.we're going to vegas as part of our honeymoon and when we tell people this they always say "can i come  " so instead of bringing them to vegas we're bringing vegas to them (for 2 hours anyway) we'll have a prize for the winner with the most chips by the end of it and my mam will have a "consolidation" prize for my dad as its his 50th the week after the wedding. she's bringing him to san fran and vegas (meeting up for 2 days). i can't wait to surprise everyone with this!

Oooh, your guests will have a great time! I love that idea! 8-) Very James Bond! HeHe! Just outta curiosity... is it expensive? It must create such a buzz, and get complete strangers chatting away! That's fab! :D

We are only having a band followed by a DJ. Good food and a good band are the two most important things to me on the wedding day as far as the formula for a good wedding goes. So I pushed the boat out on both counts. All of the weddings I've been to, people wanted to have a lovely meal and a good boogie. So I didn't bother with anything extra. I didn't get any entertainment either for the pre reception drinks. As I feel people like to use this time to mingle and chat before they are all going to their own tables for dinner.

Caricatures do sound nice as a take home momento though.
