Exchange of tokens?

Postby MrsMul2B » Thu Aug 11, 2011 10:01 pm

Hi girlies,
Anyone exchanging tokens of all you possess during the vows? If so what are you exchanging? We're stuck, I know traditionally its bits of silver but what kind of silver?

We did this used silver coins.I gave him the coin my parents used they were 45 years married the day after ours so i thought it might bring us some luck.We also got a silver coin with our wedding rings so he gave that to me.

A lot of people don't do it anymore.I even saw one couple use a credit card.

It was nice to use it made them feel involved too.The ones you get from the jeweler can be engraved with your names so its nice to have too.

Were getting a silver wedding coin from our jeweler that were going to use to pass to each other. I just like the whole tradition behind it.

Dec2012 are you just passing the one coin back and forth? We're thinking of getting one but aren't fully decided yet

We did the coins too, one my grandad gave to my mam and they used it at their wedding and the other was from the jewellers. Hubby did ask the priest if he could just hand over his wallet to me but he didn't see the funny side so we used the coins. He was only joking though, no way I would have let him :)

Poor h2b, if he tried to hand over his wallet the cobwebs would come out first!

No, we didn't bother doing it. I didn't miss it and I figured that the rings were a symbol of what we have as well as symbolising the love and fidelity. I also thought that they'd just end up shoved in the back of a drawer if we did have them.
