Flower Frenzy

Postby TanyaBranning » Tue Nov 29, 2011 2:12 pm

It's 4 weeks to the wedding.

My florist wants photos/pictures of what I have in mind. I've gone for roses, tried and tested! So me and the BM's will have a rose bouquet and the men will have a rose buttonhole.

My colour scheme is coral and silver. I'll probably have cream roses for me and the BM's with touches of coral/orange in there. I would like festive looking button holes with a little bit of holly etc. Should H2b's be a different colour to the others?? Like him having a cream rose and the others having a different colour?

I have to be honest but I'm not up to speed on the whole buttonhole etiquette (As I have decided if I'm even going to have one) but I think the groom having a different colored buttonhole would be nice and stand out from the groomsmen - also if the groom is having a different colored waistcoat/tie/carvat or the likes compared to the groomsmen could color match with that?

I dont think the grroms buttonhole needs to be a different colour if u dont want it to be- just as long as its slightly different to the groomsmens. For example, my h2b's buttonhole flower is yellow, the same as the groomsmen, but is will have a spray of pearls and diamantes behind it so it'll stand out as different! Hope that makes sense!
Could I beeeeee any more excited??!!

Hi there, it is pretty normal to have the groom's buttonhole different, the tradition is that years ago, the most perfect bloom from the bride's bouquet was chosen and turned into the groom's buttonhole, isn't that cute! These days, the groom's buttonhole usually matches the colour of the bride's bouquet, with the bridesmaids and grooms men matching, however, there are no rules, and, sometimes the groom does not want to stand out, or wear a different colour. I find this especially true with pink flowers. The groom could have a double buttonhole, (i.e) 2 roses and the groomsmen just one, that would also be different. HTH a bit, but don't panic, go with whatever he is happy to do.
