Full wedding budget

Postby Iheartdiamonds » Fri Aug 12, 2011 5:24 pm

Hi girls,

We were assessing our budget recently and it seems to have gone way beyond what we first thought. Then when H2B factored in the cost of my engagement ring and the HM - I nearly fell off the couch!

Sometimes I think we are INSANE to be spending this much money. Is anyone else in the same boat?

What is your FULL wedding budget, inc engagement ring & HM?

We dont really have a budget! Just trying to get the best value with things. I'm diying a good bit but we have 260 guests and HM will be very spendy.

We've been spreadsheeting what we have spent already and estimating what we are not sure of. Crazy money for one day but with the amount of guests and a next day bbq we can't cut anymore.

Sorry I clicked 10-15k but including the Hm the whole thing cost us 19k... Worth every penny.. had a ball. but if its the source of emense stress its not worth it so if you decide to spend big money be at peace with your choice and just love every minute of it. :angel1

Our budget is strictly 10,000 or less. 270 guests to be invited, in a hotel and nearly everything else is DIY! So far we're under budget so :cool :fingerscrossed

Not really sure on our budget. What we're doing is instead of asking for gifts from friends we're asking them to do stuff for the wedding. We're lucky though alot of them do stuff e.g. flowers, photography, DJ, friends in band and a few more things. Obviously we're giving them money too but they are giving us reduced prices as gifts. So far so good. I do the same myself for my friends I always make their wedding cakes as gifts. My parents are buying my dress and his parents the wine, anything else we're pretty much doing it diy.

Thanks for your input ladies! :hug2

It's interesting to see what weddings are costing people. I remember ages ago hearing the the average Irish wedding was between 25-30K but I was never sure if this figure included the engagement ring and HM.

I'm terrible for budgeting. We started with a budget but it is after increasing ALOT! I keep saying, 'I will only get married once so why not'. We have the money to spend but at the same time I keep thinking that we don't know what tomorrow will bring - then my mom always says, 'live for today and worry about tomorrow when tomorrow comes'. H2b is very sensible......thank God there is one of us with a bit of cop on

Who's spending over 60K???? :smokin

We're going abroad to keep costs down and having about 40 people. We hoped for a budget of 10k but I reckon it will be closer to 15K when it comes down to it

Superb2b how are you hving 270 and keeping it under 10k?!?! You need to help me!!

We are having around that and reception ALONE is costing around 16k!

I really think we'll end up around 35k including Honeymoon- we're going to Bora Bora so its a big expense!

We have decided on 10,000 , I refuse to spend anymore. Going down the DIY route with as much as is possible. I have a wedding notebook that I write everything in and also have spreadsheets done up - it helps so so much !

Im having about 230 guests and including honeymoon our budget is 30-35,000. I don't know how people who have a big guest list are doing it for very little money our reception alone is 12k!!! It doesn't really bother me that we're paying so much we're doing it exactly the way we want it, it's not for everyone but we will have the money so we're going to have our dream wedding.

Same as you mrswtobe!

It really is the amount of guests that hike it up so much- our reception will be about 15/16k with 260 guests and i think we got a good deal with hotel! No corkage for champagne, free wine with dinner, free bar extension, all centrepieces and chair covers and free afters food and canapes! If we could do it with 100 guests it would be so much cheaper but its just not possible for us. Its friends more than family too! It is so much money but we have it saved already too so have to put the cost panic out of my head and just enjoy it :)
