Grooms suits

Postby scoots » Sun May 30, 2010 6:21 pm

Hey Girlies :hug3 Finally learnt how to post!
Need help, heres the thing.. my brides maid dresses are choc brown with pink sash but my h2b thinks brown suits will look sillly and is insisting on black for him the groomsmen and fathers. Am i being sillly will black work? I mean even grey which does look very well on him but surely not black?
Also im having pink gerbha flowers as the brides maid bunches (like daisys) can i give the groomsmen these as the button hole and h2b a white or cream one? Also the groomsmen and fathers can wear brown ties(cant spell corvat) with brown waistcoats and h2b ivory. So if there wearing brown ties a black suit surely wont work....
I know he has the final say because its his day too but i dont want them to look mis matched. Think im having a mini panic. Need advice on this one ladies without causing too much trouble......

Hi Caoimhe, Im also havin choc brown bridesmaid dresses and I have got the mens suits which are a chocolate brown but honestly u barely would know they are even brown but will look better with the bridesmaids than black.. i went to black tie and they said they dont do brown suits and tried to tell me to team up black suits wit brown waistcoats but i didnt like them! i went to tony mc donald in dundalk, they were lovely really helpful and the suit looked perfect on h2b.. best thing to do is get ur h2b to try on brown suit before he dismisses them altogether!! :) :)

Hey hunni. Maybe you could go for cravats to match the sashes on the bm dresses? Instead of brown just pick up on the accent colour, ie. pink. We had gerberas in our wedding flowers, which were also used in the button holes, they look really nice, so don't worry about that! You can get mini-gerberas which work better for this purpose. I would personally go for grey suits with pink or brown waistcoat and pink or brown cravat. But really, black suits would be fine with pink if you'd be happy with that? Maybe this would be a good compromise? Just make sure all the pinks match up!

Sorry, just have to agree here with oct23 above, get your h2b to at least try on a brown suit first, because they really do look nice on! They're not all a weird light chocolatey colour, you can get lovely dark, rich looking ones that are fab! ;)

:iagree with mummybear and oct232010 ask him to try it on and see, he might like it better. you could also ask him to ask the people in the shop for help and advice.

Id love the grey on him, and it really does suit him. I was thinking when the dresses come (as per a bridesmaid instructions) to give him one of the dresses when the lads and him go to get suits. I suggested brown to him and he having none of it ..at all! So the solution is give him the dress and hope to god the tailor wont give him a black suit. Thanks oct ill try send him up to dundalk but hes is inisting that i have nothing to do with his suits that thats his thing, (which is mad cause ill panic if dont all match haha) I dont think he wanted to go to black tie anyway and well defo not advising him to go there now! Mummybear i didnt know you could get small gerbhas ah that good news so maybe they wont look so flowery on the day.
Im jsut hopping this will work out, ive given heads up to my dad havent gotten to his yet but hopefully i will, but h2b is very stubborn and it is his day too!
So gummy u thinking grey suit pink tie and wat colour waist coat?
Thanks ladies xx

i have to say i told dh what he was wearing haha. he didnt really have a choice in the matter but he loved his. his suit was slightly different to the others as his was slim fit (and quite sexy i might add haha) he knew how i was about co-ordinating everything so he didnt argue with me. and it was just a bonus that he loved it too!!

H2B and his lads are wearing suits that are kind of a browny grey... "greige" according to the shop guy. They're gorgeous, and might be worth looking into... they'd definitely go well with chocolate brown BM dresses.

Ooh Carlingford is gorgeous! Where's your reception?

H2B and I were the same as scdp and her h2b. We went out looking for suits one Saturday and then we've tentatively ordered the rest because h2b's brothers live in Poland and Cork, and my brother (who is one of my attendants) is in Vancouver. So yeah... we just kind of said "This is what you're wearing!" - luckily they all seem to like them so far!
