Hey Missies, i have been racking my brains trying to think of something a little different instead of getting a guestbook. Any ideas?? My poor brain is frazzled trying to come up with something, not expensive, not too difficult to do (my DIY skills are not wonderful to say the least, but am willing to try!)

If there is a thread on this already, I am sorry, just let me know, I couldnt find one!

Hi There,

One option is a finger print tree, where all the guests add a thumb print to the tree and you can frame it after the wedding. Cheap and Different!


another option is a Canvas signing board where you have a pic of the bride and groom in the middle of a large canvas board and all the guests sign this and once again you can frame it afterwards. Most photographers will give you this as part of your package.

another one ive heard off is where you buy a blank jigsaw puzzle and all the guests sign a piece which you assemble afterwards and frame of course!

I got a really nice signing frame, but instead of cardboard mounting, it was metal. It came with a special pen to scribe messages onto the metal. This won't fade over time in the way that ink will on cardboard

I got a trinket type box from etsy weddings. It is so cute and on the outside it has a raised gold plate which says 'and they lived happily ever after'...it has little bits engraved on it such as 'to have and to hold' etc. It is very cute and the person who made it also made us little cards which the guests write on and then we store them in the box. The cards have 'they lived happily ever after' printed on them at the bottom. very cute!

U can also get a mirror which ur guests sign with a special pen so it engraves the mirror.

I got personalised postcards (from Vistaprint), a post box (a glass one I found in TK Maxx) and a framed sign saying "Please post a message to the newlyweds!" Got some great postcards, especially the ones from later in the evening And while on HM (in Disney World - cause our wedding theme was "make believe" or fairytales) I picked up a leather bound book that I can insert all of the postcards into. Not that I've gotten around to it yet of course

I'm thinking of the blank jigsaw thing, saw the idea on etsy but there are much more reasonable options if you just google "blank jigsaw pieces" .
The fingerprint thing and signing board look lovely but my problem with them is that there is no space for messages and i'd really like a little message if the guest wants to write one, even one line!

I had a birdcage themed wedding so I bought a notebook with a real vintage feel to the paper and bought a stamp which said leave a note. basically I didnt want people to feel under pressure I wanted them to put in whatever they wanted, it could be something funny or sentimental but people had great fun with it and drew pictures etc! also it meant other people couldnt read what they wrote! it worked out so well that we are going to make a collage of the notes

Thanks a mill Missies, i really like the idea of people being able to write what they want, but knowing that there messages wont be read (prob comes from me fretting when i sign a guestbook at a wedding, and i draw a blank at what to say, and wonder will it read right!!), so I really love the birdcage, trinket box and postbox ideas especially, but i also love the others (jigsaw is so cool!!) so am gonna sit down at the weekend with h2b and see what we both come up with. Neither of us are particularly good at art, so the fingerprint tree, would be an interesting to attempt (I dont think it would look like a tree in the end )

I'm doing the jigsaws too.....but instead of having one big one, I'm going to put smaller ones on each table, then when I make them, I'm hoping to varnish then, put them in a picture frame with a pic of two of us in the centre so the jigsaws will act as a border if you ow what I mean.
Well, that's the plan.....whether or not it pans out will be another thing, but fingers crossed
